Default Getting exhaust next spring..need Spintech experience

Thus far, I've decided I don't want their mufflers. I'm thinking Dynomax because the Magnaflows are stainless. Just don't see the need if the rest is not stainless. I haven't decided on 3" or 2.5". I'll be running the 360 for a while longer but I want it setup for the 408. I also need some high flow cats. From what I can tell so far, the cats and pipes get kinda close to the trans and fuel lines. If so, what have you guys done to address this? What size and offsets of mufflers are needed? I want to keep the exhaust sounding strong but not drawing too much unwanted attention.

I went with spintech downpipes and xpipe with their headers.

I am using magnaflow 91006 hi flo cats and hooker aerochamber mufflers.

The cats can be had for 60 a piece and the mufflers for about 70 a piece.

You want offset in/offset out....mine are 2.5" as is the rest of the true dual system I have.

I address the fuel lines by going to a dual feed full return system

The tranny lines can be tweaked just a tad to give you some decent clearance - although mine werent in the way too bad.

Thanks. That' pretty much what I was looking for. Just makin' a shopping list right now. I was thinking of going with the 2.5" myself. It should be good for my 408 considering some of the F.A.S.T. muscle cars are in the high 10's with a 2.5" dual setup. As long the cats aren't a choke of some kind. Cats are pretty much zero loss nowadays though. I'm not willing to put in a cage anyway.

I ran my 11's with the spintech true dual setup with 2.5's and magnaflows. Since then I have cut out the cats cause I blew one out. A result of a bad 02 and long drive and then adding a lot of power.

What case sizes below will work with the existing spintech exhaust piping lengths.

Here's the spintech dimensions. I'm sure if the 16" spec is overall length or case length.

Not to bad, but a little less throaty. When I floor it it can be really loud and a little more high pitched.

I have 2.5 coming off my gibson headers in and out my cats and then 2.5 going into a 3" xpipe coming out 3" to my mufflers.I didnt have any problems with my tranny cooler lines or fuel lines. My cats are 4 inches away from my collectors. My left one is a little close to the cooler lines, maybe 3 or 4 inches but according to my trans temp gauge it doesnt get hot at all.The hottest I have seen it was 165-175 at idle.

    Those cats look good.

On that jeg's link it says they won't ship to California. Poor Californian's, the minority choking the life out of and dictating to everyone else.

If you go with those cats you will have to get some bungs for 02 sensors.I have to say I love my setup. It sounds so good.I had borla's before the magnaflows and flowmaster's before the borla and the magnaflows look and sound 400 percent better. Its a DEEP growl. And they are the least restrictive. No raspy clattery sound either.Im glad I listened to adobedude when I was looking to replace my exhaust.

Yes it's Milodon, but only available through Schumacher creative services. Just a bolt on deal. I used the 1 piece oil pan gasket and trimmed/thinned it to work on rear main cap. Used a little Right Stuff too. I had to squirt some in the front too where the corners are due to leakage. Next time I'm going to see if there's a retrofit one piece for the LA motors and use that one. The rear main cap is different on them. The guy that sells the x braces has one in his. He said the pan just barely clears.

Why not just get the JM pan ? It's a nice piece and relatively cheap.

I hope not. I've seen pics of two installed. You do have to move the trans back to get the pan to clear the crossmember before setting it down on the mounts from what I understand. It's a very tight fit. I told them what I was doing with the pan and they said it would work with my year ('99). Very friendly staff and they give veterans discount of 10%! Bruce at F&B gives vets a discount too, btw.

Because the jackass won't sell them, dispite showing them on his site. I posted about this not too long ago. He'll sell you one if you buy one of his engines was the basic email I received. That's just dumb.

I have that pan also on my 408 and it is a very tight fit. It works on an 03' also but as stated you have to shove the tranny back and drop the motor in and then bolt-em up. As for exhaust I would go with a true dual 3in on your 408. I have dual 2.5in and I'm thinking I might benifit from a 3in dual system. Right now I'm running jm longtubes with 2.5in x-piped duals with 2 dynomax race bullets. It is very loud but sounds pretty radical. I either get a guy smiling next to me giving me a thumbs up or I get the up tight smartcar driving conservative looking at me giving me the omg global warming I hate you.
