    Default Headers/gaskets/silicone

Installing spintechs with reflex gaskets. I know the packaging says no silicone but do you guys apply some anyway?

What's your method for no leaks

High temp rtv for the plates and remflex for the headers. Let the rtv set for a little while before tightening.

So no gasket between plates and heads??? Damn I already ordered one.

And no silicone on the remflex plate to header?

I only run rtv between the plates and the heads and just plain remflex gaskets between plates and headers. Done this a few times with no problems.

I'd use the remflex gaskets between plates and head personally. Seems the rtv is hit or miss with getting a good seal. And if using a gasket you shouldn't need rtv.

Lock washers is all I used. I just torque them by hand.

Most people don't let RTV set before tightening down. I have a hard time getting the port plates off...

This last go around I used copper RTV between my one piece plates and the head, as well as between the plates and headers. I do have Remflex collector gaskets though. Use the appropriate length hardware with lock washers...good to go.

Oh, just like Joe mentioned, I let the RTV set up a bit before I torque them down.

I used loctite on my steel 1 piece ones. I don't think it is really necessary, but I really didn't wanna scrap a set of remflex's if the plate did back off and I had to retorque

I'm not sure at what temperature it starts breaking down at, but I'm sure it won't hurt.

^that was my thoughts on it as well.

I do know that it held up quite well. When i pulled the heads several months back, those bolts were all still within 1 ft/lb of what I torqued them to.
    (Yes I actually checked that....lol)

I think quite a few of us run a torque strap, whether it be one of Richard's from HiPoTek or a Home Depot special.

Kyle, do it right and buy a set of Richard's motor mounts. after spending all that money, that would be cheap insurance.

    Only cons are vibrations.
