Default Front brakes are dragging need your help.

This is making me crazy, with the calipers off, my front wheels spin free when jacked up. When I put calipers back on and pump the brakes a few times they drag pretty bad. Is this a Dakota trait? If so what is the cure. I’m losing my mind over this. I’ve literally changed everything. New everything. I did away with my hydrostatic brakes cause I thought that was the culprit. Now I have manual brakes, new master cylinder from wilwood, new lines directly to the calipers. Brand new calipers. Still doing it.

    Any insight would be appreciated.

Manual Brakes? Disk/drum setup? What caliper and master bore size? Do you have any residual valves in place? Proportional valves? Remove Abs block?

Stock 4 wheel disk brakes, manual brakes. 1” bore master cylinder

You have sufficient pressure to apply the brakes but insufficient pressure to release the pads: 1. so slide pins are lubed and not sticking? 2. Any twists or kinks in the lines? 3. Any brake pedal adjustments made ? 4.You have a slight space between push rod and master cylinder? 5. Pedal not adjusted too tight to cause brake port blockage? 6. Pin boots not grabbing or inserted ok?

This same thing happened to me on an 03 Durango. New everything and they still grabbed. I took off the calipers and polished out the pin slot and did the same to the pins. Lubed them up and put them back and no more dragging and this was all new shit!

I think some aftermarket pieces may have different tolerances.

    Everything checks out you mentioned
I’ll try and polish out pins and slots.

Well if that doesn't straighten them out then you have insufficient pressure to get the pads released. Something is either blocking the lines from flowing properly or your new master cylinder is faulty..
I'd put an air hose to blow out the lines next if you spot no kinks or twists.

Oh and I forgot and please don't get offended but the master cylinder is not overfilled right?

Just wanted to thank you. I do believe taking a few thousands off the pins worked, they were seizing up only when you tighten up the caliper bolts.
