Ok so heres the cons of my 03 RC Dakota Eu8GHaw.jpg, 101k miles on it. Considering what i paid and what has already been done and the body is in great condition.

First issues im taking care of:
    - Rear tires have PSI issues, i filled them both up to 35psi, one is down to 20psi and stops, the other it at like 25psi, hoping its just a tire issue and not a bent wheel.

    - Small oil leak from somewhere... but its not constant, only leaks after the engine has been running, stops after sitting for a while, oil level is good so far.

    - Truck steers a little to the left, might just need alignment.

    - Exhaust Headers need gaskets replaced.

    - Cruise control turns on, but wont SET.

Pretty much only really worried about the tires and oil leak, otherwise it starts up, drives, idles great.

Try pressing the button right in the middle just barely under the little line that separates them. That's what I have to do on mine to get SET to work.

I’ve heard the chrome rims have had issues with rust/pitting on the inside of rim that causes them to leak at the bead. Might look into that.

E24B481F-EB58-4EF0-B186-4C326BCA7FA8.jpgInstalled my mstaine VB and took a drive and my god my truck was a different beast! Before it was a lackluster and now it hauls ass and easy to spin my tires!

Got back home and tried to park it and couldn’t get it to shift to park. Found out that my shift cable broke.

Checked online for replacement and only place to get it is factory and asking price of almost 200 dollars! Decided to get the floor shifter now instead of later, put in an order for B&M shifter. For now it is sitting there waiting for the shifter.

Later today will put in my new seats I got last week to replace the 20 years old worn out seats.

This happened to me a day before leaving the state for a race. I let the cable touch my longtubes after installing new parts in the engine. No close by junk yards had one (01-03 5.9 specific) and closest dealership with one in stock was Utah at $180+ overnight shipping.
I remembered I had a B&M shifter in my stock pile so spent the day/night installing it, than finished it up at the track before tech.

Isopropyl alcohol takes sap off with ease, works the best.

Junk yard if you want stock ones. You can also search online spots like “moparoverstock.com” for the correct part number and order from them depending on availability. You can also take another off (if you have any and just replace with a button head. If I recall they’re something like a M5x.80x20mm.

Spent the two days polishing the whole truck for the first time in twenty years and it turned out better than I expected. I used Chemical Guys VSS and a TorqX orbital polisher after a good clay baring, followed up with Jet Seal finish. The blue appears more blue as the fine surfaces scratches are gone and has a wet appearing shine now.

NICE! Makes it feel worthwhile when it turns out better than expected.

I installed Russell "speed bleeders" today. Bled the rear brakes, was moving to the front when I discovered I didn't have any brake fluid left from last years 4 wheel brake overhaul. Soooo... I moved on to popping off the diff cover and draining break-in fluid. Did a quickie clean-up/polish on the LPW diff cover & bolts. Sprayed paint thinner into the housing area and wiped it out to clean out metal residue. Then, re-installed cover. Will fill with "Redline" diff oil tomorrow.

Fixed my leaking rear tires, one tire had a hole in it, the other tire had a bad wheel bead, also got new valve stems! had a shop do it for me.

Next up is leaky header gaskets, which i will replace myself, going with some Remflex brand gaskets, any suggestion for head bolts?

I started tearing down an 01 Dakota Sport for parts for my 99 RT. Got lucky and found one in the same color.

Installed a 160A alternator to replace the stock one as the e-fan has a pretty good drain on the battery.

Would you recommend the torq polisher? also have a link to any good videos explaining use?
