    Default Magnum bolt/fastener torque specs

Found a couple (probably same recycled info) for LA engines and I have to make sure there were no official updates to these values.

Concerned because the Main Bolt specs I found were only 85 lb-ft and I'm sure that is likely with 30w oil! Low IMO. On the 408, my ARP main studs were 95 with their moly lube. Surely the main bolts aren't TTY are they?

Anyway, my concern may be moot and I'll go ahead and do it if I can get some confirmation from someone.

    Thanks for the help.

Use anything other than factory bolts/lube method and that goes out the window...

Yep, that's why I'm asking. Last time was ARP Studs on heads and mains so I never looked for those specs. Generally, best way is to follow bolt manufacturer specs for intended app.

Hmm, my ARP head bolts didn't list any spec. Sheperds books said 100 foot lbs at 25 lb increments, and the haynes manual said 105ft lbs. I went a hare over 100.

Should of come with instructions inside the box. Guess ARP missed that one. Lubricant type on the threads and under head/nut will vary the torque needed also.

went and looked at the back of the box

I used the ARP moly but didn't put any on the bottom of the bolt, only on the threads. No idea what size these are.
maybe this is a better view

alright, from the scanner, the bottom reads better

Back'em off enough to get lube under the head or nut. Not sure if you have bolts or studs. Then torque back down in sequence.

bolts, any one know the size for magnum head bolts?

That label really doesn't help me out too much, other than I think I over torqued 'em.

What's the part number on the box? Go to the ARP web site, look up that part number, and you will find all the information you need about size and torque for that particular bolt/stud.
Edelbrock Magnum heads, Harland-Sharp 1:6 RR, Jomar Performance Ultra-Lite Stud Girdle, SoutheastPerformance Sheet Metal Valve Covers, Custom Hyd Roller from Reed Cams, Mopar M-1 2 Brl Intake, Hughes Stage 1 TB, JBA SS Headers, Jacobs Electronics Pro Street Ignition System and Wires, MBRP 'Cuda Style Exhaust, Western Chassis 2" drop front and rear, Edelbrock IAS Shocks, Terry DeLong Pro-Glass Shaker Hood

Well what I've got is 144-3605 it's not even listed on the ARP site, I've googled it a dozen times, come up w/ it at jegs and other places, not one lists the size, Shepard doesn't even list it. Shepard and Haynes differ. Shepard says 2 step 50lbs 105lbs. Haynes says 25-50-75-100. Neither of them mention dry,30w,moly.

My best guess is they are 1/2" 13 pitch which would make it 88lbs.
