Default AVOID APS PRECISION and WAYNE!!!!

I just want to leave a note here for anyone and everyone who is looking to upgrade their transmission or torque converter. DO NOT use APS Precision. Look up someone else like PATC, BMR, or Martin Saine for your work.

I have a long, bad history with this guy that started when he sold me a 2600 stall converter for my original trans which caused a no-shift condition at WOT and which the lockup feature stopped working after about a month. I wouldnt be surprised if it was someone elses used converter he sold me.

Then, foolishly, I bought a brand new transmission from Wayne thinking that with his experience he could build me something strong and at the same time something that would finally shift at WOT. WELLLL, 3 GRAND later i got a transmission that looked nice but still wouldnt shift under WOT unless the TV cable was pulled all the way loose with shifts at random rpm levels and barely any kickdown when flooring it. I can say the SOLE reason why my truck wont run 12 second quarter miles is because of this scumbag lowlife.

Now he tells me I MAY have to grind this valve down or change tv springs or WHATEVER. Bottom line is that I paid over 3 grand for a "high performance" transmission and I shouldnt have to take anything apart or grind anything down. I must have dropped the valvebody in my truck at least 10 times since I bought it and at least another 20 more times of dropping the pan on it. thats a lot of wasted time and ATF+4 fluid and money.

If I had the money, I would rip this piece of crap outta my truck, piss on it, blow it up, and install a Tremec TR-6060 and live happily ever after!!!!

Also, just so everyone is clear, I have never had a problem with any sponsor or merchant for the dakota r/t or for my ls1 trans am. This guy Wayne is in a class or should i say classless of his own.

Sorry to hear you tried him out - I've been trying to waive people away from him for the past couple of years after he screwed me over.

My experience with him wasnt great, but it wasn't for a transmission issue.

He doesn't do anything "special" like he leads people to believe.

Yup Wayne is FUCKWAD!!! My buddy Russ Crow bought one of his transmissions, it quit after 20K miles, still under warranty but only if Russ pays to fix it. I leant Russ my MSaine tranny to get his truck back going, Russ took the tranny to waynes shop and 18 months later I have no transmission and wayne never fixed russ'.

So in kind words if someone does talk to wayne - Todd in sacramento says GO FUCK YOURSELF!!! I didnt even do business with the jack off, and through my efforts to try and be a nice guy I am out a tranny.

I've had an APS unit in my truck since mine took a dump at the Houston Nats, he treated me VERY well. gave me a really good price, took me into his shops to see the unit being built, installed w/o charge.... still shifts like a monster. I'ms sorry to hear things have gone downhill.
I may be slow but I'm really good at it

Damn Dude... I'm sorry to hear this.
I have his APS tranny in my rig that I bought in 2003. Runs great.
Back in those days Wayne was a pretty stand up guy.

I've had it apart and can vouch that back then he put good parts in it.

BUT.... I don't what has happened to the guy. I know many folks lately that have been fucked over by him.
He (and his products) have gone downhill IMO.
It' too bad you don't live nearby... I've got a tranny guy who WILL make that tranny work for ya.

Don't you guys have some beefy torque converters from a performance diesel shop, or something along those lines? Withstanding more torque than the PI converters?

Yeah they are Victoria Automatic Transmission out of Victoria Canada.
They customized a PI Viper converter for my set up.
They can pretty much beef up any converter, or custom make one of their own.

Use Martin Saine and be done with it.

I bought Dave's MS trans. When the truck was running, couldn't have been happier with it.

well im gonna have to jump on this train also, first problem i was told i would receive my modded VB in a week, week later nope, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4th week i started rasing hell and i finally got it, nothin but problems, i told him my problem from the get go and it was suppose to fix it which it didnt, it was suppose to come to me as i would attach the filter and put in, i had to take off the harness n sensors from my 42re vb and put on the new 46re vb, i left no detail out when tellin him of both trans and what i had, next supposedly i wasnt suppose to put in the spring for the alum accumalator and the vb was made to be w/o the trick sensor in the harness, now my trans still wont shift til 3k or more

ive dropped the pan 3 times and talked to him way to many times to count, so now the trans is startin to slip so its just gonna be rebuilt by a good friend of mine that a dodge trans tech

Transgo shift kits > buying a valve body with a transgo shift kit already in it.

I just saw this thread and i have way too much to complain about when it comes to this guy and his junk. I had purchased a "100% NEW" trans with all his special mods to increase performance. It showed up with used parts, rusted and dented pan, used case. Of course he said it had all new internals. truck doesn't shift a the same points. didn't shift into OD, then after trying ALL new sensors, new wiring harness in trans and truck pigtail, still didn't work. Then i realize that he used the wrong year model sensors, changed it out and after the 300$ in my own money it shifted into OD. Still doesn't shift at the same RPM under WOT all the time, sometimes it hits the rev limiter, sometimes it short shifts. Cant get him on the phone, or office. When I do get hold of this guy he talks my ear off about how much he knows cause he is an engineer. I am a degreed and practicing engineer, and this guy has proved to be a moron many times. If I could go back, I would never have given him the 3 grand for this junk.

I've got a PACT Viper series Trans with a 2000 Stall and it's amazing. Has held up strong going on 70,000 miles. Very nice people to deal with. Plus the lady that took my order had the hottest little southern voice.
