Default take a lap or 2 with me in the SRT...

sorry i play with the car more than the truck now a days but i thought id share these with you guys.

i went to the AutoX today with some guys from work. there was a certain 350z talkin some smack about running circles around me. well i guess i ended up being the talk of the day as i threw down some pretty damn good times and took second place in the pony car division in a car that weighed a crap ton more than any other on the grid. shows you that driver accounts for a lot. i basically had to drift every corner to some degree. the front end would start to push a little and i had to kick the back end out to bring it around on almost every corner. the scoring booth could not believe i got such a big car around the track so nimble. i was running times WRX's, STI's and whatnot were getting. not bad.

and for the video... this was not my best lap but i somehow deleted that video. oh well the photos of the papers proves i did better...

***yes i do have a bad habit which is a big no no in racing... driving with one hand on the wheel. I'm working on breaking that habit but its hard.**

and another run... better tighter slalom in this run but it cuts short when my camera ran out of room.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmWjVl5cagY

i wish i didn't delete the vid of my best run that was a 59 second run. it was so much smoother with a tighter slalom and hooking all the corners together. it was also a run with one of my friends in the passenger seat that thought it was a roller coaster. she was screaming and her hair was flying in front of the camera out of the helmet and stuff, it was quite funny. i have no idea how i deleted it off the camera.

That's pretty cool, I've been trying to get more big cars out but all they want to do is set and watch. Here's a video from a few weeks back, it has a few shots of a 09 R/T Challenger and a quick shot of my truck.

it was a lot of fun. the heavy car was pretty hard on the tires, my brand new nitto NT-05's don't look so new anymore. lol. actually they look pretty good for the abuse i put on em. i think i should invest in a power steering cooler if I'm gonna do this more than once a year. the PS was a little whiney after the first run but it quieted down after the first 2 runs, so i think it just needed to stretch its legs or something the stock brembos and EBC red pads were flawless.

i shouldn't have been in FStock but the tech put me there when i think i should have been in STU or ESP due to the intake and strut bar.

You have a long way to go. I would sign up for a solo school if you get the chance. You will learn a ton, and I was going to say you should not be F-stock LOL My guess would be ESP, which is what I run, because you have a tuner, intake, exhaust, etc. With more seat time, you will get better

Oh and here is one of my vids. I need to get my Memorial Day autocross up from St. Louis. It was pouring rain, and tons of fun

by the new rules I'm STU, unlimited N/A displacement, 4 seat sedan, over 140 treadwear (my nitto NT-05's are a 200 treadwear)

i can run ESP if i want, but STU was made this year to cater to bolt on modded street cars. unfortunately for me a lot of EVO's and STI's are in those classes too so i have my work cut out for me.

STU is not a new class. I was planning on doing STU but I removed most of my emissions, so that eliminated me from that class. ESP is really competitive in KC, and I have fun beating up on Camaro's and Mustangs

Here is my St. Louis vid. I still need to work on my hands and getting through the slaloms a bit better.

Bought it with bent valves for $775

Been running since Jan. 1st with NO issues. I really need a downpipe and exhaust to really open it up. Stock exhaust FTL

Yeah, it just just seemed like last time I talked to you about your stable, the wifey was the only one with a reliable vehicle, ha. I got a buddy who has a Talon that looks just like yours except it is FWD. We called it the Dr Pepper can cus it is comepletely stripped to the bare bones. I don't think it's been out this season but in its second trip to the 1/4, it went 11.3 @ 128 on PUMP gas. He still claimed he could get a lil more of out it and then he'd get around to a race gas tune. The people I know are real big into them and once they build them right they are fairly reliable, or at least as reliable as any high HP 4 cyl is going to be that runs 25+ psi. DSMs certainly get a bad wrap cus most of them are owned by people who are just clueless as to how to make them hold up.

    QFT!!!

There was a span last year where I did have some terrible luck with cars LOL. It already has a 6 bolt swap with a small 16g turbo. I'd probably be better off with a 14b for autocross, but with some adjustments in DSMlink I should be able to get some lower end torque back. I just need some time to mess with it. I'd like to run e85 since there is a station in town, I just need bigger injectors than the 650cc's I have now. DSMs are very simple to work on (contrary to what one would think when looking in the engine bay), and have an awesome aftermarket. I'll be sticking around for awhile

Oh and she won't be my wifey til tomorrow

it didn't feel like there was any. the pics surprised me. the camaro guy i gave a ride too said it had no body roll compared to his lowered SS. maybe those were some hard corners tho... you got to remember the car weighs 4200lbs and was killing mustangs and camaros by almost 2 seconds run.

I know, that's why said I was surprised. Running those times, with that amount of lean. Just imagine what it would do with some tweaking.

yea... im just afraid if i lower it i will have uneven tire wear. its nice and even wear now and handles good enough for me. it has strut braces and road race Nitto NT-05 tires with stiff sidewalls that helped a lot in the twistys. i think i might just do hotchkis sway bars, heavy duty sway bar links, and sub frame connectors and call it a day.
