Thread: TPS question

  1. #1

    Default TPS question

I changed the TPS on my R/T, to install the new one I had twist it against the TB blade spring pressure about 1/8" to get the mounting screws to line up (same as the old one). Is this normal? Or should it just slide on to the TB blade with the screw mounts hole already aligned (which mine won't do)?

Guess I installed it wrong, did get out of the driveway and it threw a TPS code P0121.

Looks like there is only one way to install it. When I install it, it starts up and idles at 1500 rpm.

Highly recommend AEM Mopar part here. You can use a scanner and check either TPS voltage or % of throttle to see if it reacts correctly to peddle response. Yes I think you can clock it wrong on the blades when installing.

You may also want to reset your IAC counts. Searching the forum you will find the procedure.

I didn’t drill out the pins and I don’t have a scanner. I guess I need to do an idle count reset.

Hughes engines has a great TPS article in their tech section, worth a read. I've had good luck with E Bay TPS.

For a quick down and dirty scanner can't beat the ELM 327.

Connect to your phone or android tablet and run Torque. Lot of useful info available and read and clear codes.

I searched, but could find any information. What can this scanner do?

Got the ELM 327 and dowloaded Torque Lite and so far all I get is, it tells me what a trouble code is. I'll watch some videos and keep playing with it.

Don't know if I ever used lite. I run Pro. Came with the one I bought, but you can download it for $5.
