Default Small Block 318/360 Headers Flanges

I've decided to make headers for my truck.

As many of you know, trying to find parts is difficult, if not impossible at the moment.

I purchased some header flanges from Hells Gate Hot Rods. However, I am going to return them.

They are a little too rough-cut for me, and the bolts holes are a little too large, and are not uniform. I could weld up the ports, but the holes would be too much work. They are plasma cut.

I’ve been in contact with RaceMufflers.com, and theirs are laser cut, and seem to have closer tolerances.

Ordered the header flanges from Racemufflers.com. They are making the flanges for the magnum port, and I am getting the stubs loose, so I can weld them in. They call the header flange out as 1.625 primary tube, but they are making them for me with a 1.75 tube.

    https://www.racemufflers.com/Small-B...rm4510mshf.htm

There is a design fee of $40 added on, but even so, it's cheaper than buying something like a Holley or Headman set up, that already have the tubes welded onto the flange. The price is $170 out the door. I want my stubs loose because trying to weld tubes onto a pre-welded stub would be challenging, since they are so close together in the middle ports.

    For instance:

You would need a gas lens, good eyesight, and a steady hand.

They are going to be full length, probably a try-y step header.

I dunno, Richard!?! You're opening yourself up to building dozens of sets of LT headers! :0 It seems everyone and their uncle says they want LT headers. LOL I love your ingenuity, tho!

What I like about the Try-Y is they make good low and mid-range torque...and are easier to fit in the confines of the engine compartment. I doubt I'd be making any for sale though. It's too labor intensive by hand, with all cut-and-fitted mandrel bent tubing.

Thanks Ernie! I already have some laser cut flanges on order. But you never know. lol

I suppose you could use a good quality exhaust gasket for dimensions.

I saw those are CNC machined, but they are all on back order. They do show dimensions though.

Just received my header flanges with loose stubs from Stainless Headers. They are laser cut with better accuracy. The fitment is quite good. I may have to modify them a tad, but I can hammer form the stubs to match. I ordered carbon steel but received stainless. Won't need port plates for these headers. I'm going with a 1 3/4" primary since that will work best for my combination.

Wondering Rich with your skill set, why you never got into your own performance head work.

I've given it some thought from time-to-time, but would need more equipment to be more efficient, such as a pressure washer...valve guide and seat machine, etc.

Not many are known for their quality work on heads. Lots of misgivings to those previously or currently involved.
Would love to know one good and reliable place that is forthright, diligent and produces fine work. That's you all over but you don't do heads.

You have the hardest part done as your name seems unsullied and you produce quality stuff.
Get thee the equipment and bask in the lime light or I should say...head lights.

I need to have 6.4 hemi flanges cut out. I was goign to get oem gaskets and scan it in to my CAD program and send it to someone to cut them out for me.
