Thread: Stage 2 transmission

    Default Stage 2 transmission

Well, I bit the bullet and ordered a Stage 2 transmission. I wanted a 2600 stall converter, but I was talked into a 10.5", 3000 stall converter. He said it will really wake the Dakota up and still be steetable with OD lockup. Delivery will be the end for January, beginning of February.

I was freaking out when he said 3200, I was going to get 2600. I don't have radical engine, the cam is 208/218, .523/.533, 110 lobe center, Edelbrock heads and the other standard go fast stuff. He said it will be fine on the street with OD lock up (no lock up in 3rd). Guess I'm still stuck in my C6 and Turbo 350 days.

3000 will be fine. When Danno & I built my engine he said "you'll need a 3400 -3600 stall convertor". I thought No Way! But, the MSaine 3500 ultra-billet works great. Granted I have more cam, but I really only notice it when in pulling the twisty little 20 mph hill to my house.

That will keep you more in your power curve, what gears are you running, i went with the 4K cause I was spraying out the hole, but it seemed sluggish on the street even with the 4.56s

3.90 gears, 275/55R17 on the back and it pretty much spins tires all the way to 2nd gear, shifts into 2nd and they break loose for a second. That's with the stock converter. I have too much low end right now, I either need Caltecs or move some power up. I'm going to swap the stock intake for a M1, that should move the low end power up some and the 3000 stall with the Stage2 trans I hope is going to be a good match. I also see a new cam this summer, something with 224 @ .050 on the intake. I think the M1, new cam and 3000 converter should all work well together.
