    Default Stroker 408 1st Dyno makes 450HP

Hey everyone, been a minute. Just wanted to update with a little video clip of the R/T. Actually got it on the dyno for 3 pulls a month ago. Have a lot to be thankful for, the truck has come a long way from a year ago rebuilding it in my driveway. Had a few setbacks along the way, but very happy truck is running very strong. Actually planning to go back to get torque figures, as the speed shop was unable to get a tach signal.
Special thanks to Flyin' Ryan Performance for getting this dialed in real nice in only 3 email revisions!! Ryan also was incredibly kind in honoring a tune that I won from the Hagerstown, MD nationals raffle back in 2015! (Regrettably was unable to attend that year)

Big thanks to Richard at HiPoTek for helping me source the parts I needed through the pandemic, as well as his advice. Thanks everyone else too who has followed along, you all know who you are.

    Build Specs:
    Forged SCAT 408ci stroker
    SCAT 4340 I-beam rods

Engine Pro Racing Plasma Moly Rings 43M5523
Ported Mopar R/T 2.02 Heads 1.8" IH Springs PAC (hughes #1129), +.10" Stainless Valves by SI
    4bbl M1 Port Matched
    52x55 F&B TB
    Comp Cams HiPoTek HPT236XR 236/242 .544/.558" 106LSA
Spintech Mid Headers, X-pipe, Dual 3" Hooker Aerochambers Dumped
    30lb Holley Injectors.
    Mopar 130t Flywheel
    RAM 10.5" Clutch 98390T
    TKO600 TCET5008 5 Speed

Looking forward to posting up some updates again, as I plan on getting the exhaust re-plumbed to exit in through a roll pan along with some other cosmetic upgrades./
Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving and enjoys the Christmas/Hannukah New Year celebrations ahead!

Not bad James! Looks like your head flow and cam work well together.

Surprised a bit by the lsa at 106. You have a vacuum booster?
How is she to run on the street?
You running with 58CC head chambers?

Congrats on getting it done! That is a tight LSA, be interested to see what she runs.

Yes it appears that they do! Thanks for letting me steal that cam from your 408 All those hours with the die grinder returned some good dividends

Arro, my brakes are still OK even w/ the OE vacuum booster on the street. However I really need to invest in upgrading to big brakes next priority for sure. At a minimum the '03 disk conversion.

Me too! Can't wait to make a pass with the truck on the strip hopefully this spring. I was very curious on seeing my torque curve as well, gotta get it back to the dyno again when I can catch a break.

Also would love to strap my stock '15 scat pack to the same dyno just to compare the two

BTW, the 03 brake upgrade made a HUGE difference in my stopping power! If/when you get the spindles make sure you get the calipers and brackets with them. I had to order special METRIC bolts just to bolt the calipers on. THEN, the wheels rubbed the caliper brackets! I had to do some "clearancing" so the wheel would even turn!

I installed 03 Durango brakes with the original TRW calipers. Using R/T wheels mine didn't rub. I believe there were two caliper manufacturers.

Not to get the post off track, but the I have been wanting to do the front disc mod. Everything I found was on a 2003/2004 Dakota, take where the brake line hooks to the frame and take everything from there out, brake line, spindle (knuckle), brakes, caliper, housing, bolts. Does that sound right? Should 100% bolt-on to my 2001 with all of that.

Yes & yes! I used NAPA brackets/calipers on 04 spindles and had rubbing issues. So, get the whole schmeer!

I’m curious what kind of flow numbers did you have after porting the heads and who ported them that’s a serious number to the wheels?

MP, here are my flow #'s http://www.dakotart.com/forum/showth...l=1#post532048 That's the thread documenting the head porting work I did, I tried my best to replicate the work done in a Hot Rod magazine article. Plus I did a little trick, I pressed brass tubes into the intake pushrod tunnels, allowing me to grind the pushrod pinch are to the max.

I suppose it must be in the 500's, the manual swap helped I'm sure. I want to get it back on the dyno soon, at a different shop probably to compare #'s for consistency's sake. Also the last shop didn't measure my torque curve.
