Hi I have a 2000 r/t dakota 5.9 auto and when I drive short distances my trans temp light comes on only for a second. But now it comes on and shuts off the overdrive and no codes come up has anybody had this problem?

Whats the fluid look and smell like. Whens the last time the trans bee serviced?
I serviced it in June and replaced the governor pressure sensor and temp sensor and filter of course and everything has been working great.
I did put them in but now I read where you should also replace the solenoid valve when replacing the other sensors, this I didn't know or I would have done it but it's not cheap. Do you think it would hurt to drive short distances with it until I can afford to fix it? Five miles one way..
No problem. I think the advice about replacement of solenoid may have had more to do with preventative care. It's still functioning.
I drove 15 miles in limp mode once when my pressure switch went and that also threw no code. I would recommend a tranny pan w a drain plug. Makes it so much easier.
Do check your connections. Many of these wires break inside their harness.
Original trans cooler lines may have a check valve in it . They can stick and restrict flow to cooler.
I already removed the check valve and checked my pcm connectors and all the trans plugins,is it true that you can plug into my pcm and even though there is no code it can read what is setting off the temp light in the history in the pcm? A shop told me this.
Mine did the same thing with OEM trans. It wasnt the governor pressure solenoid, it was a faulty governor pressure transducer. It woukd kick overdrive off, on, off, on, and then sometimes not do it at all.

Now I have a code p7013 has anybody else had this code and if so what caused it exactly?
P0713 Trans Temp Sensor Voltage Too High Transmission fluid temperature sensor input below acceptable voltage. Was MIL code 37
: if you go on the HOW TO articles, there is a sticky there with OBD codes
