    Default Fans?

For 10+ years I had a Viper fan that was always on through ignition. On new truck I used a temp sensor and solenoids and all that. I only used low speed but it was popping 30a fuses. Uograded ti a 40a fuse, and few months later the relay failed. I am pretty sure the fan motor is getting old and resistance is going up.

I dont want to deal with a failure again and overheat, so I am considering going back to stock fan.

Should I get the taurus fan? stock fan? flex fan?

This fan did me good for a long time nad all types of conditions, whqt do you guys run these days?

There's always the HHR and Grand Cherokee options as well.

I run a Taurus/Lincoln MK VIII 2 spd. It has melted the Hollister 2 spd wiring assy relay blocks once. I found new blocks and replaced them and relays about 3 yrs ago. It seems to be Okay so far. I think I would research replacing the motors on the Viper assy you have. Less work & wiring. But, that's just the 64 yr old arthritic old man in me talking.

Are you using relays or just fuses ? If you adapt relays or just go to auto zone or an orielies and buy the temp kit, it comes with an adjustable controller, relays and fuses easy to hook up, and the prod just goes in the very top fin of the radiator

If changing fans I would also suggest Spal, flex fan, or the black magic one. But it more so sounds like you got an electrical problem. Most fans pull up to 40AMP. So you need a 40AMP relay and fuse for it.

I ended up with a Davies Craig controller. It was had good reviews online and seems to work well.

I hadnt thought about changing the motor, I will look into that. I remember buying my fan through Sam in a group buy for $150, goodold days, them things are $$ now.

    Thnaks for suggestions!

I have been able to hunt down a lot of little things using the numbers on the item. Oh, try a direct hot wire on the fans to be sure they are the problem.
