Default Got rear ended... Color change?

So I got rear ended the other day coming home from work. I had the tailgate down and luckily it took most of the hit, it was perfect honda accord grille height lol.

    20200610_091424.jpg

So it trashed the tailgate, busted both tail light housing, bemt the bumper up and bent the bumper mounts. Also kissed the side of the bed and put a little crinkle in it.

So now that it is getting body work done, I know the shop owner and I am going to have him do the whole truck in a new color while its there. I thought about going back flame red, but i feel like its kind of common and its never gonna be a show truck so gonna make it my own.

As of right now, Im leaning towards Destroyer Grey , the challenger color from a couple years ago. Never seen a Dak in that color. Do that with black headlight housings and tail lights, and gloss black grill with black R/T decals.

    Thoughts? Im open to suggestions.

Probably hit it bc youre driving upside down

Destroyer gray would be different. Add some black decals or trim. Woudl look good.

    No doubt

I was leaning initially towards a gloss black and black out everything, but my Dart GT is black and its sooo high maintenance to keep clean. I thought maybe that they grey would be easier to keep looking nice.

Ugf. Black is such a pain to keep clean. Looks fantastic when clean and polished. But that only lasts for about 5 seconds. I do not recall ever seeing a dakota in that gray.

There's a guy over on Facebook groups with a Destroyer grey R/T. 10 years in the Navy.. Last color I would consider is any variation of Haze grey.

What's with the upside down pictures. Tried to post some pictures of Grapejuice a couple weeks ago and it ended up upside down in the preview, flip them around and still posted upside down.

Not crazy about those mirrors but I still like the color. I wanted to see that color on the body lines of a Dakota. Thanks for posting. I'll post before and after once it goes into the booth

That gray is crazy, it’s got the sniper front end kit , the only thing with changing colors is under hood, and jams , a wrap would be nice just as expensive

Years ago I got rear ended by a young lady on her cell phone not paying attention. I was at a red light. She nailed me in the rear and sent me banging into the car in front of me. She was most concerned that she dropped her call, and didn't give a damn about damaging the front and rear of my RT. She was a smart ass to the female judge and the judge stuck it to her. I still had to pay for the damage to my truck.

I hate cell phones on the road. Everyone else can go screw themselves while they play with their phone.

Not sure if this kid was distracted or what, he had 3 buddies in the car and couldnt have been 18-19 years old. But Im with you, distracted driving is dangerous driving.

Its actualky terrifying that we can zone out and subconsciously control a 4000lb piece of machinery at 80 mph and be off in la la land

actually the Amethyst is not that bad to keep clean. Now it definitely does not stay super mirror finish for long. But its also not like black and shows every little speck as soon as you drive it out the drive way lol

    Hahaha I'm well aware Mark

Im actually partial to the black, because when i was a kid we had a 10 sec RC Dak that was blacked out. So its kinda nostalgic. But I know what a pain black is to keep looking nice.

    Any other suggestions?

The only other color I would even consider which is not bad at all to keep clean is the Intense Blue. I dont remember the actual color code for it but yea.
