So I realized that it's not the early 2000's and the Mopar dealerships are not stock full of M1 intakes anymore! And my pocketbook isn't screaming for me to release the moths and spend over a half a grand for the new style manifold! So like most budget minded hot rodders do! Improvise what you have! I'll still can't understand why Dodge never really tackled the plenum issue properly? But for me! This will be my second intake plenum repair with mods to the runners and injector spray relief. This is only for a couple years until I do the Hellcat engine swap. So here's a pic of my intake with a new powder coat finish.IMG_20200313_162310428.jpg IMG_20200313_162258694.jpg

Back in the day I had some of my best 60' times running a modded kegger. Have installed an aluminum belly pan? That helps keep them sealed up better.

I have one I started to port, cut and cleaned the runners, didn’t finish cutting the tab under the throttle body area yet, still have to port the injector slots and grab a piece of 1/4” aluminum from work, I was half tempted to weld one solid on there

My first attempt was futile, due to having the wrong cutting wheels for my Dremel! I was tempted to bring it to my work and use a Bridgeport and a nice 1/4 " four flute endmill and make my life easier, but with the chovid19, out there I decided to order some better cutting wheels, stay at home with Beer and music.

Bridgeport would work bad ass, still have tempted to finish it, not that I need it , but I might weld the plate on it also , solid all the way around , no more seepage and no more power loss for whoever wants to play with it

Today I finished up the mods on the Barrel Intake, Takes awhile with a Dremel! But it turned out good. So hopefully the weather will be warmer Saturday, but we have rain and possibly Snow. Here some pics.

Lol oops, I was typing after I had installed the plugs, and once again I cut my finger on manifold heat shield! I'm wondering how many owners out there have either severed an artery or lost a digit changing plugs.

My heat shields went in the trash with the first plug change.

You all do know that the modded kegger has been flow tested and dyno tested against stock intake and M1 right?
The results equaled ZERO gain anywhere in the rpm range, I forget the flow numbers off the top of my head but they were minimal.

I always thought that the modded kegger thing was less about "more power" and more about changing the length and angle of the runners, thereby changing the "torque zone" so to speak. Just to help bring the powerband to a bit higher rpm range rather than the towing mindset the kegger was made for. Just a change in feel rather than extra horsies. Is this not correct?

It was actually my kegger Danno used in the flow test lol. The cut runners only added 10cfm, but does shift the power band a little higher. That said, the 4BBL M1 was tons better than the modded kegger it repalced:

With the modded kegger installed, and adjusting the TV cable, which I remember the last time I did this was 12 or 13 clicks from the front! And has been running great! I still need to run a high flow cat, and yes there still super 40 mufflers out there! But did not see at the Magnaflow sight! IMG_20200418_142944027.jpg. Now it's time to replace my chipped out bumper, for a powder coated color match one.
