Default 1999 Dakota RT Oil Pan Replacement

Is there a thread for an oil pan replacement? I heard it’s a real B to replace the oil pans on the 5.9.

Well, the search bar was of absolutely no use at all. I'm thinking pulling the engine is gonna be faster and less frustrating in the long run.

pull the engine, it ends up being less frustration that way. I would freshen the engine while up in my opinion.

While we're on the subject, does anyone have a recommendation for good aftermarket pans for our trucks?

Replace the core plugs while the engine is out.

    Is your pan damaged?

Chad or someone else with more engine building knowledge than me may chime in here. But, I learned from my machinist and "Stock Eliminator"racer, that our pan design is pretty dang good. He runs a 70 Duster 340 car that of course can only run stock parts. After seeing my pan he switched to one of our Dakota pans because of the rear sump and shallow front on them. He went as far too say it even mimics a windage tray to some extent. Then, with Danno's knowledge throw in, He said he always ran an extra quart of oil to prevent high rpm starvation. It barely raises the level, without any negative results.

I forget how well Milidon’s fitment is, but them and Southeast Performance are the only two I can think of (besides the old GSM). And John at Southeast only sells them with his engines now.

unless high rpm race engine, stock volume oil pump and stock R/T pan will be all you need.

Once you have part numbers, run them through these guys website. I was able to knock off a good chunk of money on their page.
