What did you put in place of that Dave ?
Finally had the time and weather to make a little progress today.
I was hoping JD2 was going o have a memorial day sale but that didnt happen. Ill need to order a tube bender soon and get the cage going.
Hoping this weekend the weather will hold out and let me cut some cross members out. and maybe get it up on the chassis jig.

Give you chops niebs for doing this in your yard. For that matter, just for doing it. I believe Rich at Hipotek has tubular cross members.
can't wait to see the results, your chassis jig looks great!

Thank you! Im excited to get the chassis up on it. I do not think it came out too bad for just going off the plans in my head lol. All the crossmembers can slide to make it more versatile and I made it double rail to add attachments much easier. It will also completely break down for storage
Little more weight reduction. That dash and hvac assembly is HEAVY!
The off center trans tunnel is really going to be an issue. Guess ill be in the "modified firewall/floor" category.
Weight reduction for sure !
Yeah the HVAC system sucks lol. Super heavy. You make me want to start working on mine. I cant wait till my Pole Barn is built. I has been straight raining for the past like 4 days lol

Nice. I want a tube bender but for a decent stand and an actually decent bender they are like $300+ and with me building a new shop I dont have the money for one. But I want to make my own trans cross member thats why. I think tho I may be able to make one out of a straight tube tho. just need a big side place for it.

Nice is it a manual bender or a Hydraulic bender. Most quality post manual benders can be had for around 300-400 and come with a die. Most the time you work with roll cage tubing so its a very decent start. I have been looking at getting one for like 3-5 years lol. I just dont think that the quality benders are at my price range of what I think they are worth. They are definitely close at 300-400 but as you stated they either dont come with dies or only have one. I waited about 4 years before I bought my TIG welder. TIG welders are finally down to a price where you can get a quality TIG at a good price.

This one is a hydraulic Hossfeld #2. Not the best of the best for tube bending but has tons of other dies available which is good bc i do a lot more metal fab than just roll cages. But the seller has not got back to me yet for a meet time so whos knows.
I know what you mean on the tig welder. I finally picked up an Alphatig200x two years ago and its been great. I just built a water cooler to add on to it. Tig is so nice to have. I love it.
