Default Welp. Guess its tiem for a back half!

Pulled the bed to do some sheet metal repair and fuel cell install. Found this. I knew it was bad but this is worse then I thought

It was time for a build anyways

This is not as bad as it seems. Did this fix on a 95 Dakota. First I pulled everything together. Grooved it a bit and ran a 7018 bead into the grooves. I then cut two plates of 3/16th plate to fit both the back and front of the chassis channel to span the crack with a 4" overlap. I tacked these in place. I then drilled them and bolted through with three 3/8" bolts. Then stitch welded these plates. It was the strongest part of the truck.

Yeah, true, fixable for sure. But a good excuse to cut it all out and build a back half and cage .
So pretty much everything from the cab back will be available soon-ish haha.

That would have been a disaster on the road.

Does that back half have disk brake conversion? Seems to be a discontinued item I've been looking for

Ill probably start it up at the front driveshaft loop. Get rid as much oem frame as possible and replace with tube.

When i did mine i cut the straight section behind the first box mount so box could be located in the same spot and made the rest of the box mounts

Thats what i would have done if I wasnt going so aggressive. but the rear bars are going to be on 20" center to match the 4 link brackets. I'm not using the factory bed floor anymore. Bed sides will be mounted off the cab and out riggers.

Got a set of tubular rails that came with the rear I pretty much just need a set of coil overs and a locator device. Probably going with a wishbone set up.

Are the two tubes in the back of the truck the foundation for the rear frame?
