    Default My RT was scalped

Was heading to church this morning and a dump truck I was behind kicked up some sort of debris. It hit at the front of the roof and peeled a good size chunk of paint off. Looks like someone took a scraper to it. $hit happens I guess.

    Ouch!
We’re you able to get any information on the truck? Usually insurance can get them to pay for the damage.

No dents, really weird. I looked in my passenger mirror and saw paint floating away after whatever it was hit my roof.

Unfortunately I did not. I did file a claim with my insurance as I have full coverage. I will wait to see what they say. Its not my daily and this sucks. Ive only put 5k on it in the almost 5 years I have had it.

I beleive the original owner had it repainted around 15 years ago, at least thats what I was told. I am the 3rd owner.

I was thinking along the sames lines about them totaling it.

Wouldn’t think it would be that dramatic to paint, since the roof section could be painted by itself without getting into the B pillars etc,or does the regular cab not have the same roof seperation at the top like a club cab?

It looks doable to respray the top as it is separated; so no blending in the pillars.

Fix it yourself, if you have insurance pay for it you'll have the "accident" record on your title for ever.

Look into Hagerty Ins. for the next time. Are trucks go under Classic insurance now, 20 years old. You set the value. They will pay you to fix it if you choose too.

Well, thats too bad. I would find a small shop where you can make a deal with the painter. Sand the top yourself and have him shoot it.
