This, and it is funny how people will come over and comment at shows etc. about how great they look,or they know somebody,or had one themselves, and how much they liked them.
I still find them fun trucks.

Love my Dakota and I guess that’s why I kept it. They really nailed it with the 2nd gen Dakota. Even the first gen has some great lines and potential. But when the 3rd gen came out it was ruined. They finally put out a better looking Durango along with the Jeep Grand Cherokee in the R/T and SRT. They both are on the same platform sharing many parts. It will be interesting to see if they share the same style or go with a smaller RAM version of the full size truck. I certainly hope they do an amazing job with the new mid size truck and bring back the sport truck in the R/T and SRT platforms. It would certainly kick this site back into high gear and membership.

Yeah, the only thing I could think of was the bolt pattern for the wheels definitely not the brakes or suspension.

It was a reference to the bolt pattern , and that some people adapted Viper brakes to fit .. in giving him info for the article.. I mentioned Shelby being the first to install V8 into the Dakota Platform .. as well as having prototypes with 360 and twin turbo .. he was basically father of the V8 Dakota .. and Dodge Used Dakota mule to test V8 for Viper mockups .. initially the Viper was going to be a V8.. it’s probably one of the more accurate articles on these trucks in a very long time .. I also mentioned it’s handling at the time was Comparable to BMW 540i

Gen I/II Dakotas (actual Gen Is, ie 87-90, Gen 1.5 is 91, Gen 2 is 92-96, Gen 3 is 97-04, and 05+ is Gen 4 dammit.) and Gen I Vipers did more sharing than just the bolt pattern. Spindles are similar, upper control arms are similar, steering rack is close.

Historically, Gen. three owners (97-04) are in denial of their trucks place in Dakota history.

Nah Bruh, the 97-03 Dakota is a Gen 3, some ass fuck decided to make it a gen 2 on wiki and now young non-know anything millennials wanna believe that bullshit!

There are more changes between the 87-91 Dakota and 92-96 Dakota than a fifth gen and sixth gen Camaro, y'all in denial of facts people can sit yo ass down now!
