Thread: New R/T owner Boise Idaho

Default New R/T owner Boise Idaho

Hey guys, just bought my first 2000 dakota r/t. The thing runs good, but needs alot of work. One of the previous owners did alot of their own wiring and is pretty jumbled under the dash, don't really know where to start haha. Not sure what was done to the motor, really dont know much about the truck, but I'm excited to dig in and learn my way through it. Hoping to be able to get some advice and guidance from you guys.

Nice truck! What's your goal and intentions for it? Daily driver? Resto? Drag build?

Welcome to the site. You seem to have a good base to start with. How many miles on it? Original engine? The search function is full of valuable information, and previously asked questions.

First off that intake tube crap is garbage, too small tube size and sucking in hot air off the manifold/header. You would prolly see a power increase with a stock air box assembly and K&N drop in filter.
Or go to the K&N intake set up.

For right now it's going to be a daily driver if that, would like to restore it slowly. I dont know anything about it. The guy I got it from picked it up at auction and didnt have a clue about it. So I have no clue if it is original motor or how many actual miles are on it. Picked it up pretty cheap and have always wanted one. I just want to slowly work on it and make it into a great truck

One thing I have learned about Slammed, is that you can never really figure out how he feels about anything.

The fact I even posted and offered help with an explanation should make you feel special, normally I tell newb fucks to drink a tall glass of bleach!

The good old days newbs had to prove their worth by going through a period of fire to see if you had balls or a skin flap....

Hey, Welcome from a little farther north/west of you! If (most) everything seems to be working, just tidy things up. Start with a basic tune up if the cap & rotor look burned at all. My ET at the track was significantly slower one year when I was lazy and didn't install new ones. They only had a few thousand miles on them.
