Default 2000 RT crank but no start

So I have a 2000 Dakota r/t. I purchased the truck a month ago and drove it home just fine. The truck had a lot of rust so I purchased a rust free bed, new fenders, cab corner etc. one day it rained really hard and it was sitting outside and would not start. Just cranked. The next day it was freezing out and the truck started right up. So I pulled it inside and swapped out the cap, rotor, plugs (autolite 3924), and cam sensor. The truck fired right up and ran great. Next day got in it and it only cranked. So I replaced the coil and crank sensor. Still won’t start. I can hear the fuel pump kick on. I swapped out relays and even tried a new pcm. Nothing has changed. I also put the new fenders on and cleaned up those grounds and reinstalled them. Nada. I put a noid light on an injector and get no pulse, but I have good spark at the coil and the spark plugs. Can’t figure it out. I really don’t want to scrap the truck, but I’m having a hard time not justifying that. Please help. Oh yea, I’m an idiot when it comes to diagnosing wiring.

Are you getting spark at the plugs ? Or are they wet from fuel ? What is the fuel pressure? These are the first things to check , put old pcm back on for now if you put aftermarket coil on take it off put the original back on , Oem coils always work try that good luck

The injectors are given a constant power from the under hood fuse box, the PCM controls the ground side of the injectors. If you have spark but no injector pulse then the ASD rely is good and the Crank sensor is good.
Verify you have power at the injectors, if so then you have wiring issue, pcm issue, ground to pcm issue.

I had a similar issue with my '97 Dak 4x4 more than once, and the biggest ground on the front of the driver side head was the culprit.

Could you tell by looking at it? I tried wiggling them and got nothing. Need to check them with a meter now.

Nope. Had to unbolt it, move it, and tighten it back down before the truck would fire.

Rock auto sells all the cables separately all you need is the wire with the small gray connector that plugs in by the power box relays , the dodge pictures show several taped together and says they are obsolete
The one that goes from the relay box over the engine to the back of the alternator always cracks from heat
I had a starting problem and I threw all that corroded cables in the garbage
Replace it all at RockAuto , I even Replaced battery and Starter also

Well I finally figured it out thanks to an original service manual. I was reading about the vehicle security system that I didn’t think a 2000 had. In the very first paragraph it said that it runs through the door lock actuators. Well that fuse was blown. Replaced it and it fired up!!!! So I paid $400 for a fuse. I’m looking at the positive in all this now. At least I have all new sensors on the motor and a spare pcm. Lessons learned.

Glad you got it figured out! Being new to diagnosing a problem on a new (to you) vehicle can be a pain in the butt! We bought a newer motorhome 2 yrs ago. Learning some of the "new to us" systems took some doing.
