Hello I live in St Augustine, Fl and just joined this forum to gain knowledge in the Dakota RT. This forum is so rich in information!! Still reading a lot of them that targets toward what I want with the RT.

In the 70's I grew up with Mopars riding those Challengers, Cudas, Chargers, GTX, and Darts.

Now I am nearing my 50's with my last kid in college freeing up time and money for me and now want to relive those times and wanted a truck since I have 4 bikes as well and want something that can haul ass and still carry my bike if needed.

The only thing I liked were those Dakota RTs and Ram SRT10's. I am more like big packages in small size kind of person and the Dakota RT fits the bill nicely. Also I was always in love with those Purple cars from the 70's so the 1998-1999 RT's comes in Deep Amethyst color so that also helped me narrow down to what I want.

Currently I do not have a RT, but I am now looking for a Club Cab in Deep Amethyst color.

Welcome, and good luck on your "Hunt for Amethyst October".

Dodge did what others missed out on. Other than GMC with their Cyclone, and Typhoon, the Dakota 5.2 marched on.
Ford missed out on it by not making a 2.3 turbo package for the Ranger, when they had the SVO, T-Bird, and Merkur using the 2.3 engine.
