    Default Smokey is Alive

Finally got the replacement clutch sorted out and new flywheel and hydraulics back in. For the 4.7L bolt pattern a 60's Chevelle SS clutch works with the flywheel and the Viper tranny, oddly enough. McLeod Super Street Pro good for 500hp, turbo is still in a box though. The bellhousing bolts at the top of the block and the tranny to bell bolts up high were a huge PITA especially working without a lift but somehow I managed to get them all back in. Some people leave off the high bolts in certain areas. Clutch pedal is a little softer but 2nd and 3rd gear are somewhat notchy. Replaced new manual gear lube with plain ATF and it has gotten a little better. I put in a new output shaft seal but did not mess with the input shaft seal as it is on the inside of the T56. Also installed a new pilot needle bearing by modifying a gear puller into a pusher.

Even after 6 months being down the engine fired right up and no trouble codes, knock on wood. I still have to get it inspected and get the registration back up to date but the hard part will be keeping my foot out of it while breaking in the clutch for 500 miles. I still love the way these trucks look compared to the new offerings and it handles like a go kart with the Hotchkis and BMW M5 tires.

Because we are limited with the 6 lug wheel options on ours, about those BMW Wheels, what year are they from, and were any modifications needed to make them fit? Direct bolt on? Tire size you are running?

No, they are Fikse F/M10's off of a Viper. Luckily, they came with the truck as they are $1k each. They need some clean up and the clear coat on the center pieces is flaking off a little as they are probably 20 years old. I saw a new set on a car at a recent car show and they looked amazing.

Bumper cover is from Stillen. Not sure if they still make it but it was quite popular with the R/T crowd. I had it on my original black CC 5 speed that was wrecked in the rear, twice.
