    Default Is my block scrap?

I had a piston come apart. There are a couple marks in the number 6 cylinder, but I think .030 to .040 would clean it up. However, there is a small chunk taken out of the bottom of that cylinder (probably no more than is needed for a stroker kit). I'm thinking worst case, is to sleeve that cylinder. Is my block scrap? If not, what is it worth? I considered building, but the cost of Gen3 Hemis have me considering a different route.

    Scrap it....Blocks are everywhere.
Edit...Your block is worth whatever you need to pay someone to take it to the dump.

Nothing wrong with a sleeve if it's done right.

Why sleeve a block that's only worth 100 bucks when it's in good shape?

Thanks guys. Like I said in the original post, I'm strongly considering a hemi swap now anyway. I'm thinking 6.1 with my D1SC Procharger would make a fun ride.

It depends on how much hassle you want to go through stuffing a new Hemi in it. If you are on facebook you have seen the issues Rob Rohe is working through to convert his. I'm with the keep it a "Magnum" train of thought.
Also, when mine destroyed a piston and cylinder wall, I scraped it. There were several guys that said "save it, sleeve it". I didn't want to take a chance on a crack somewhere in the block.

If this was the 1920’s during the great depression or a third world country they’d do the best they could with what they have. Lol If it was a performance 340 block I’d say sleeve it. However, I’d probably just get another Magnum block to work with.

A problem I am struggling with, it would take a lot of $$$$ to get the same flow out of a Magnum style head, as a stock 6.1 head. I am going stand alone either way, so electronics will be about the same. Solid or urethane Magnum motor mounts would be about the same as Hemi mounts. Aftermarket oil pan for the Magnum would be about the same as Hemi swap oil pan for the Dakota. The more I think about it, the better the Hemi swap looks. It would take more $$$$ to make the same power with a forged Magnum, with boost, as it would a cammed 6.1 with boost, considering a good 6.1's can be found for under $4k.
