Thread: No crank, no start

    Exclamation No crank, no start

    PLEASE HELP!!!!
    I have a 99 Dakota R/T Solar Yellow....Tweety is her name
Last week, I left work, started normal. Drove the 13 miles to a store to get beer and when I tried to start again, no crank, just starter solenoid click. 1 click.
I called AAA and they tested the battery, it was bad, so I had a new one put in. Still no crank, just one starter solenoid click. Had it towed home. I tried 3 different starters, no joy.
I have replaced just about everything I can think of, but still no crank. A friend was trying to help, he jumped the contacts in the starter relay socket. Now I don't even get a solenoid click.

    Here are my specs:
    99 Dakota R/T
    MOPAR performance chip
    Flowmaster exhaust
    K&N Air filter

Other than that, the truck is stock.

Items I have changed and/or checked:

    Starter X3, one was new
    Battery, has 12.6 volts
    Relay X2
    Crank Position Sensor
    Neutral Safety Switch
    Ignition Switch
Main chip, removed performance chip and re-installed factory
    Both battery cables and terminals

I have checked for voltage drop from the battery terminals to the post. Also, checked voltage to the relay socket, all are good. Grounds are all good, no excess resistance. There are no blown fuses, test light shows all are good. I checked for voltage at the wire to the starter, I am not getting anything when the key is turned. I used a jumper wire from the battery directly to the starter wire, one click, no crank.

I am at my wits end with this. This truck is my only mode of transportation, so I am stranded. I love this truck to death, but, it is really irratating the hell out of me right now.

Fusable link looks good, but no light from test light on either side

If its auto, and there is no start in either park or neutral, then i'd say your key switch is bad.

You also didn't say if you checked the cam sensor.

When you state the relay, is that the Auto Shut Down relay? If not, take a look at that.
