Thread: Cylinder MisFire

  1. #1

    Default Cylinder MisFire

2001 Dakota R/T - new 360. Having intermittent #2 Cylinder misfire. The clip broke on the female part of the fuel injector plug - will replace (splice in new one). It did have a broken spark plug and solved problem for a bit, but now obviously a combination of things. Has anyone had the fuel injectors go bad? I;m not sure which ones these are - but they are red in color. I'm assuming they are not stock.

I'm going to replace the following:
    Plug Wire (for #2 cylinder)
Female harness Plug for fuel injector
    Fuel Injector?

Will check cap and rotor also

    Any other ideas??

Sounds like you're on the right track but I hope by"splicing in a new pigtail" you mean solder the wires.

Project Maverick. I feel the need, the need for speed

your fuel injectors are oem . Usually on a 2001 they are red from the factory (uscar )

Ok - yes I mean Solder...

Bummer on the injectors, but really no worry. It needs a tune pretty badly.

If that don’t fix it , try moving the injector to another cylinder, just to see if that’s not the culprit

Wrap that wire, #8 wire and the coil in conduit and make sure they're away from each other

    Hope that helps.
