I recently saved a black 2000 R/T at a local junk yard that had just about every option including power front seat. Only paid $700 for it so I figured I could use it for parts even though it has 175,000 miles on it. It runs and drives but I haven't really had a chance to go over it yet. It was towed to a storage yard and never picked up so it eventually ended up at the junk yard and I grabbed it right as it was coming in. One thing that initially caught my eye was that the bed was mint with no rust which is almost unheard of here in New England. When I finally got it home I was shocked and delighted to find the entire truck was completely rust free, turns out it was a serviceman who owned it and brought it up from the Carolinas.

A young guy in his twenties up in Maine bought it from me two weeks ago and is going to completely restore it. He had done quite a bit of work on a 4.7 Dak with a manual trans but when he found out that the bottom of the cab was rusted he decided start over with a rust free truck. I mentioned this site to him and I'll bet he will chime in here at some point. I was really happy to see it go to a good home and would not have sold it to some one that was going to strip it or butcher it.

Certainly making it a race car would be cool too, to have it live a second life out on the track representing the R/T world would be a worthy purpose. That way it would be preserved for a long time even if it wasn't exactly stock anymore.

You should just scrap both since they're such "pos's"
