Not sure if you could get past the ugliness.. but yes they sure did fuck it up.

So OP - how much did this set you back if you don't mind? Smog inspection friendly? I can't imagine a 2016 392 being cheap.. what was the reason for doing this, versus a 360 build up for the same money?

    That is badass though, props!

This is too freaking killer. Any pics of your exhaust setup? Where'd you source the headers?

I've got about $10,500 total into the 392/T56 swap as best I can tell. That's everything I could remember, from tubular upper control arms to the 99-up brake booster, etc.

Everybody has done a 360. With the Hemi, it runs and drives like a stock Challenger, runs deep into the 12s, likely an 11 if I can drive it, and gets close to 25mpg on the expressway lol. It's just better. The technology is there, why not use it?

Otherwise, you wind up with the same 408, eddy headed, M1, spintech combo everybody else has.

I used the Mopar crate 392 kit and an AutoMeter cluster.

Does the AC/Heater work? All other functions of the Dakota work such as airbags, cruise control, etc?

Heater works, I do not have A/C hooked up. Might be a winter project. I'm not sure if the airbags work, the sensors and everything are still there so unless they go through the PCM I have to assume they work. Cruise control does not work because I have drive by wire. All the power accessories, radio, etc work.

Are you running the stock PCM along with the separate one for the new motor/trans?

The stock PCM and harness is long gone. The factory body control module or central timing module or whatever it's called is still there. I have a Mopar Performance crate PCM controlling the motor, and I have a manual trans.

Thanks for the info. I believe the AC runs through the PCM.

Hoping to start work on a set of custom headers for mine. Any pics of what was done on yours would be a big help for routing ideas. Appreciate any pics/tips you could provide!

Ive heard good things about the ebay headers. Might be worth picking up a set and use those to cut up. Do you plan normal down and back design?

It'll be different depending on the trans and bellhousing you use I would think. The driver's side is pretty tight to the steering shaft, and I needed tubular A arms to clear on the passenger side as well.

Mine's a 4.7 so will have to be from scratch. Seeing some routing that clears would save some time in mock ups that don't work before figuring out one that works, then having to do it all over again on the other side, LOL. Even then mine uses the Quicktime bell for 5.7 I was looking at making them tri-y's to help keep more torque as well since 287ci. After a couple of "quick" looks that likely is going to make it too difficult to fit.

Sick combo! mid 12s and you can still do a cam and port the heads whenever you want. Low to Mid 12s on a 360 is basically maxed out without bottom end work.

Thanks. I've got to go home and finish putting the trans back in tonight. I was having an issue with the clutch not fully disengaging when I would depress the pedal. I made a 1/8" spacer and put it behind the slave cylinder in hopes of it alleviating the issue. With a good launch and powershifting, along with some better air than the July heat, I'm hoping to snag an 11.9@113-114 with a stock 392 (headers) and out of the box Mopar tune - which is identical to the factory Challenger calibration, removing only torque management.
