    Default Wideband sensor placement

Working on the final details of my exhaust build. Where should I place the bung for the wideband? Do you typically use one wideband sensor for data logging? My thought was to put one in the middle of the xpipe so it can sample an average of both banks. Is there a certain distance it needs to be from the collectors?

Yeah x pipe will work. Mose ppl like to put bungs in each bank as well, so they can move the sensor around and verify each bank is true. Just plug them when not in use.

No, as close to the exhaust collector as possible is ideal for better accurate reading and maintain proper heat temperature while operating. In the X pipe your reading will be off some as the oxygen is still being burnt and will read low and the x pipe being farther down the stream will not maintain the O2 sensor to proper temp at idle and light throttle running.

    X pipe won't work.

Like Chad said keep it as close the collector as you can, and exhaust leaks before the sensor are not your friend.
I can move the sensor from side to side when I'm bored, never seen much diff to worry about., we're not building Pro Mod 100K motors here.

This is a customer's Ram. The O2 sensor should not be hanging down like this either.

I know you know this Bill, but for others who come to this thread later...

A lot of trucks have 'pre cats' on each side before the X or Y pipes where the exhausts mix together. The O2 that the computer reads during closed loop, and the wideband you use for datalogging both need to be upstream from ANY kind of catalytic converter.
