    Default Used MSaine worth?

What would the going rate be for a Martin Saine street/strip trans with a 2800 stall and Mopar deep trans pan? Has roughly 30k miles on it, shifts absolutely perfectly but does need the rear band replaced.

    It's worth the core charge.

I'd say it's worth more than a core charge, it's far from stock.

If a core is worth 200, his work and parts are worth what? 5-7 maybe? Considering a new one is worth $2800 or so, A grand or less would be a good deal in my mind.

This is risky territory for both parties. Remember when the 2 Dan's from Florida got into pissing match when a used performance trans was sold? You already admitted yours needs work. What warranty/guarantee do you give that says it's in the condition you describe? What happens when it eats itself 2500 miles after the new owner installs it?

My opinion... and shipping will suck... route it through Martin, let him go through it and give it a clean bill of health. Should be cheaper than a new build from him...but then will shipping negate any savings?

Who's doing the band: you or a shop? Depending on which one (band), figure the band could cost as much as 50 bucks or as little as 15. Couple hrs to put it in ...say $200 if a shop is doing it on top of what you'd pay for the tranny itself. That's if the shop is legitimate otherwise you could be looking at a $350-$500 bill.

Tom raises a good point about the true depiction of why the tranny is slipping. Are you the buyer and have tried out the truck or the seller?

This is my current transmission that is in my truck now. I have a buddy who is interested in buying it since I'm swapping to a T56. He's aware of the rear band issue. Just trying to come up with a fair price on it.

certainly not 2/3 of what a new one costs.. I'd say 40% of a new one tops, assuming its just the band

I don't understand why a MSaine trans is in need off a rear band replacement. Especially with only 30,000 miles on it. Could you please explain .the Msaine trans in my 2001 has 120,000 miles on it and has seen many passes on the strip and has been used for towing just about all its life .
