    Default Fabricated valve covers

Is it correct that LA valve covers fit on Magnum heads and just use 5 of the 10 holes that Magnums have?
I can get a nice pair of fabricated LA covers for dirt cheap from a friend.

If they have a thick bottom flange, they'll be fine.

They are still on an engine but they appear to have a 1/8" flange.
I'm trading some unused Evinrude outboard parts for them, so free. WINNING!
I'll get some quality LA gaskets and give them a try.

A little thin, RTV the gaskets to the covers, one less surface to leak.

Check for clearance between valve cover and alternator stud!

Like Dan said they will most likely hit the alternator stud.

Remember to disconnect the battery cable to the alternator before trying the clearance!

Don't worry guys. I'm not as dump as I sound.
These will be going on my 408 build long before it's in the truck and hooked to a battery.

It's easy to move the alternator stud, I might have the parts...
I bought a new alternator, but I moved my alternator, no need to relocate the stud now.

    And why is that?
I've done that on every valve cover I've run.

Same, RTV between cover and gasket, and dry to the head (That is with aftermarket flat rail covers.)

Makes pulling the covers a snap. I've used the same gasket for years, and my covers are off a lot.

With this build I hope to have them firmly planted to the heads and not touch them for a looooong time.

Solid roller cam here, I check my lash a lot, if one valve is way off something ain't right.

Mines firm rubber..I think it's moroso, but not having to align the gasket and valvecover is nice when you re pulling the covers off between rounds because you heard something on the return road.
