Well I should have known shit wasn't going to go right when Today i went to load the truck on the trailer the GOD DAMN carb didn't want to idle and the wideband was stuck on 22:1 afr readings.....
I figured, fuck it prolly just need to recheck some check and maybe turn up idle some, deal with it at the track. The wideband i will need to move the sensor or run turn downs as the sensor must be to close to the end of the collector and picking up oxygen. So I load up the Durango, some friends come with me and we off.Well i had to turn around only a couple miles away and grab my Nitrous jets.
Well I get 10 miles away and realize I forgot my race gas :mad turn around again, got everything this time and head to JAWJAW.
Get to the track, pull into a space and off load the no idling mother fucking truck :mad Look the carb over, re check everything, turn up the idle, will barely idle in gear, 1,500rpm in park/neutral, 900rpm in gear :mad
Anyway fuck it, fuck idle I need WOT! so i go make a motor pass....... I was RUSTY!!! as hell let me tell you, i was like a damn def dumb blind retard kid trying to eat an icecream cone in florida on a summer day in the sun.....
So the truck bogs off the line, and doesn't really pull hard like it was, so I figure well maybe it was my fumbling that was the issue. So i hot lap the truck back in line, go over shit in my head, stage up, set trans brake, floor it and release the button, same fucking shit....
Well I get back to the pits all discouraged and down in the dumps, then I talk to a good friend who been racing longer than i been alive and he convinced me to put in the race gas and make a nitrous pass to get some data on the truck.
I go to drain the pump gas out the fuel cell, pull fuel line at regulator, turn on fuel pump and proceed to pump maybe 1qt. of fuel into the gas can..... i was out of fucking fuel on my motor passes :mad
Well i got 5 gallons of fresh unopened C16 in the fuel cell, got a nice full nitrous bottle at 1000psi, lets go make some doughnuts.... Get to the line, set the brake, release the button and press the nitrous button in my hand, well the damn truck LEAPS! up into the air and then settles down from some tire spin, the truck is skating around like a virgin on prom night with the football star in the back of a caddy. I FUCKING DROP THE GOD DAMN NITROUS BUTTON OUT MY FUCKING HAND....... :mad :mad :mad grab the button again and proceed to skate that slip-n-slide pig across the traps....
I managed to go 9.75 at 143mph with a 1.591 60' on that pass, while the ET is .5 tenths slower than my previous best, it was within 1 mph of my previous best with all that dumb shit going on...
So I'm like well I will try letting 2 psi out the tires, they were at 14 psi i will set them at 12 psi.....
So i go to the line, release the trans brake and the truck goes straight up, i let off the nitrous only, truck comes down, get back on the nitrous, truck goes up even higher, let off again, when truck comes down I stay in the throttle no bottle and the bitch was squirrely so I just coast rest of the way.
In conclusion, I need to make a bar change on the four link and pull some rear squat out, I need more seat time and practice with this trans brake, i need to mount my nitrous button to the steering wheel and i need to redo my valve lash setting.
While not the outcome i would like it was still all good data and experience that i need to get the truck going faster, I can tell it has A LOT of potential and will take some time dialing in but when i do it is going to turn some heads!
