Welcome! Not too far down the road from me.

You're likely going to want some headers too. Don't bother with shorties. Pretty much all cheap leaky junk. Look for some used mid-lengths (Spintech, PPH, etc.) if you're on a budget, otherwise if you've got the dough just contact Spintech and get some brand new ones.

With so few choices for bolt-on heads for Magnums, the general consensus will be this: If you've got a decent budget, buy Edelbrocks. If you're looking to spend less than those go for, buy EQ (Engine Quest) heads.

If you're looking for anywhere near 4-500 horse, ditch the Superchips for an SCT tuner. Flyin Ryan (vendor on here) has been the preferred SCT tuner for quite a few people on the forum.

With a decent cam, heads, intake, throttle body, and tune, you should be making ~400 at the wheels on a stock bottom end.

You have a long way to go to make 400-500 hp.

Start with the best heads you can afford ported by the best SBM head porter you can afford and build around those. Get crappy heads and nothing else matters.

A good guy to search out would be Jason Line and his brother. They had a nice little shop just south of Duluth and were doing fantastic head work. I believe they were doing complete engines too. I have one of Jason's old business cards in my drawer, I will scan and post it later today. This is "The" Jason Line of NHRA Pro Stock fame.

You might also want to try Miller Hill Auto Parts in Duluth. I know they use to build a bunch of engines for the local dirt racers around Duluth and Superior. Another one would be PDQ in Duluth, I don't know anything about them. Up in Hibbing there was a guy by the name of Shady Holman. He built a ton of Mopar engines for a lot of guys including a friend of mine from Thunder Bay. His engines made really good power. And ten back to the Line brothers, Lance is Jason's brother and my buddy tells me their shop is not far from you. It's about 5-10 mins down the road from Black Bear casino in Wright Mn.
