Default HiPoTek Walbro Modified Fuel Pump Modules

HiPoTek is now offering fuel pump modules that have been modified with the Walbro 255 LPH, 400 LPH, and 450 LPH fuel pumps for the Dakota 96-04, Durango 98-03, and Ram 94-03 vehicles:

The 255 LPH modules are available for the stock OEM fuel system as well as a custom feed/return system. The 255 LPH module for use with the stock OEM fuel system is basically a plug-&-play set-up.

The 400 LPH and 450 LPH modules are available for custom feed/return fuel systems only. This requires the customer to plumb the remainder of their custom fuel system with separate fuel lines, pressure regulator, fuel rails, etc.

For example, this is a new module set up with the Walbro 255 LPH pump installed using the stock regulator, fuel lines, etc. (This new module also includes the module tank seal even though it isn't in the pic.)

This is the used module modified with a Walbro 255 LPH, 400 LPH, and 450 LPH pumps.

So what's the advantage to a custom feed/return system as opposed to running OEM fuel system with a 255?

So what's the advantage to a custom feed/return system as opposed to running OEM fuel system with a 255?
    Some advantages:

    • More efficient with less resistance to flow

    • Balanced system

    • Fuel is constantly moving

    • Greater flexibility

    • System is tunable

A return-style fuel system is, for the most part, the preferred method of fuel delivery for medium to high horsepower street or race vehicles. Properly sized, an engine is guaranteed a continuous supply of fuel that is cooler and pressurized evenly. There is also greater flexibility of how to plumb the system with various options.

Even though the 255 LPH pump is beneficial with the OEM non return system, it can’t provide the advantages of a return fuel system and is a compromise with the smaller feed line. Even though the pump is rated for up to a certain amount of hp, I think the capability in the non return system will be less than the hp rating of the pump. For instance, if you are toward the upper end of the hp rating of the pump with the OEM fuel system, you would be better off going with the return system.

This is not a pressure regulator on top of basket as shown, this is actually a fuel filter.

It is both a filter and pressure regulator!
