Awesome! I really appreciate the feedback on this.

On a side note, I visited the machine shop that rebuilt my heads. Told them I have the engine out, and have the parts to bring in with it for the 30 overbore build. They said, because a lot of the shops in that area have closed, their work has more than doubled, so they will not be able to rebuild the engine as promised when I picked up the heads. They can do the machine work, if I disassemble the engine. They can order the bearings, and what-not, but no time to build it back to a long block so I can put it back in myself, as planned. Now I know a lot of you can do this in your spare time, and have done this left and right, but I do not have the time to do this. My search is on for another machine shop than can do all of this. A little bummed, but it is what it is. You might say, "You can do it. You have the factory manuals. Common, build it, it's nothing that hard." I can only say, I seriously do not have time for this with all my other projects as a home owner, and just other projects. Machine work and assembly all in the same place. The search is on. No truck running, no motorcycle racing till it is complete. Others here have a passion for drag racing, or even auto cross, but my passion at 53 years old is still motorcycle racing.

Waiting for a reply back from an e-mail sent to M&M Heads. This place is close by and has a good reputation.

I love sport bikes and watching the races! I almost bought a GPZ back in the 80's. I rode a 97 Yamaha YZF1000 until 3 yrs ago. After neck surgery it just wasn't comfortable sitting in that stance anymore.

Very Cool, I need a supermoto in the worst way, my brothers build on his is almost complete, it'll be a wheelie machine Can you actually close your tailgate with the bike on the back?

Oh how technology has changed since that bike. Looks rather fat. You get use to a bike, and stay with it, that's why I have had my GPz550 as a daily commuter since 2003. Just enough fun to not get me in trouble. The 2003 SV650s Twin is just enough speed, and still competitive in a lot of classes. No plans to move up to a 600 or 1000.

Supet Moto's or Motards, are very popular here in the bay area. I can't close the tailgate, because the rear tire sticks out, and I carry the bike ramp, and Easy-Up I bring with me. Inside the truck the rear compartment holds my gear bags, tools, and spare parts crates. If I had bigger truck, or had the bike on a trailer, I'd bring more stuff I may or may not use.

Good news is M&M Heads in Hayward will be able to rebuild my engine, and they said it will take a couple weeks. I have plans to drop the engine off to them with all the other stuff a week from Saturday. This news made my day yesterday!

Motor is being delivered back to me tomorrow. Only about 3 weeks to have it complete, balanced, and assembled, less the intake manifold. Details to follow with pictures of course.

Wow it has been that long???

Work has kept me busy(60 hours a week), and so has the house, but these are not excuses.

Engine is waiting for the bead-blasted M1 to be complete from being power-coated clear.

Headers and Y-Pipe are out being coated. Chose Cerakote over Jet Hot due to price, time to complete,, and no shipping. Satin Black.

Freshly powdercoated M1 Intake side-by-side with Modified Kegger. Looks like I have a few holes to plug, and a rerouting of the intake temp from 1:00 position, to 9:00

"Work has kept me busy 100-120 hours a week". Are you trying to kill yourself!? Damn...That's just insane! But, yes, you have a few holes to plug. My vacuum tube in that position comes out also. I used some red loc-tite on it the last time.

Edited my working hours to state 60 hours a week. I agree 100-120 a week would be insane!!!

    Thanks for the advice.

CA might have great year round weather, but when the cold/flu season hits, everyone seems t want to share it with everyone else. This is the first day since Christmas Day that I have felt almost normal. Normal to me that is...

    1. M1 Intake came back from getting powder coated clear. Looks great! $175.00. Obviously going to make sure the intake ports don't step up to the ports in the heads, and make sure the gaskets don't interfere with flow.

    2. Headers and Y-Pipe returned from being coated. Opted for 2000* Satin Black Cerakote. Pictures this weekend. Very affordable to have this done. $325.00

    3. Torque Converter has been swapped out from whatever stock was (1900???) to 2800.

    4. I normally stay clear of Harbor Freight stuff, but when they had a Black Friday Sale on a 1 ton engine lift for $99.00 (normally $174.00) I couldn't pass it up.

***Will be investing in a set of -6AN rails and fuel line soon from HiPoTek, because the stock rails will not bolt on the M1 without modifying the mounting tabs.

As promised... I have a set Mike Leach Headers (Doug Thorley) that came with this truck. They originally come nickel-plated. The headers were holding out, just showing some age, but the y-pipe looked visually more worser for wear.

Like that of the intake pictured, no reason to have the pre-cat system look terrible when the hood is opened, right? I am very happy with the results. No need to heat-break them in, as they pre-cured, and ready to go.

Wow!!! Nice!!! I was going to have mine done in chrome but that really looks nice! I may have to rethink that! Also, do you have a deep trannie pan? If so, how does the Y pipe fit around it? I ask because I remember reading somewhere here or on another forum that it was either very tight, didn't fit,or had to mill down some of the cooling fins in order to get it to wrap around the bottom. I have all the components , just have to find the time to finish the installation. Just like you working 65-70 hour weeks leave very little time to do much of anything else. TIA.

Best picture I have taken, showing the Mopar Performance Trans Pan. I don’t know how many quarts more than stock it is. Came with the truck when purchased. It is just lower than the stock pan, and don’t think the y-pipe would ever need to have been modified.

Hi Ricky. Thanks. You gave me a great start by selling this truck to me in 2010. Care to chime in on his comment? Good to see you checking in here from time to time.

I would also thing the Hughes and other deeper 46re trans pans should fit like that of my Mopar Pan.

Hi Ricky. Thanks. You gave me a great start by selling this truck to me in 2010. Care to chime in on his comment? Good to see you checking in here from time to time.

I always look around here, still. I don't really know why . Once in a while, I see some of the "old timers" post up. I used to talk to Alan, "Grape Juice", every so often, but haven't seen him in a while. Anyway, the pan was put in prior to the exhaust, so the Y-pipe was routed around it when the exhaust was swapped out. I think the pan holds two quarts more. Honestly, I don't remember. I still wish I hadn't sold it, ,but I know it's got a good home.

Thanks for the information Rick. I was not aware the y-pipe was modified due to the pan. Good to know, and stick around.
