Dates are picked. July 7, 8, 9
I stopped in at Kammer's, when asked if they would be interested in a parking lot show n shine, he said "Absolutely!!" So, saturday afternoon schedule is set!
everything else is up in the air. Maybe a day at the AF Museum? not high on my list because I want events that focus on the trucks. Maybe a day driving around Hocking hills state park on Thursday, hopefully beating most of the weekend rush giving us slightly less traffic to deal with? Friday night TnT at LaRue? (LaRue is a redneck po-dunk 1/4 mile track. $5 for TnT night, run what ya brung, they don't even do tech inspections on TnT nights. --I've seen a convertible full of kids, with the top down, all wearing T-shirts, flip flops and shorts make a pass.)
Anyway, mark your calendars, start saving your pennies for gas money. As far as "entry fees" This will be a low key event. May buy 1 trophy for Bob Kammer to hand out as "best of" pick, buy some burgers to cook, a few dollars to cover club insurance policy and make it an official club meet, plus whatever other admin costs the club sets for the summer meets. (T-shirts? Raffle entry? that's all up in the air, not getting a lot of volunteers on getting that stuff put together and I can't do it all by myself)
Current plan of events:
Thursday: Meet up at Hocking Hills and just drive around all day. Hocking hills is about 45 minutes south/south east of Columbus on US 33. The roads in the area are very twisty and curvy, lots of cool little places to stop off and grab a meal, parking lots througout the park to pull in and hang out.
Friday: Daytime to be determined. I'm open to ideas. (LaRue Racetrack is closed July 1, 2, 8, and 9. So, no TnT there. National Trails is hosting the good guys --1972 and older only-- on Friday June 8th. Not open Thursday or Saturday)
Saturday: Show n Shine n Cookout at Kammer and Kammer's in Dayton Ohio. Dayton is about an hour west of Columbus on I-70. They are a full service machine and fabrication shop complete with engine and chassis dyno. They are mopar guys at heart. next door to the store is also a gun shop. Mopars and Guns. Perfect! There will be food and soft drinks provided. We'll have some small giveaways/door prizes to hand out too.
Entry Fee: $10/person. You pay your own hotel if needed, meals, (other than Saturday afternoon). If you want to secure your entry ahead of time, send a paypal payment to the club and PM me to let me know you're in.
