does anyone have experience or knowledge of doing this? I believe I blew an intake manifold gasket. I developed a miss after hitting boost for the first time. Plug 7 has a little oil residue and I also have a rear main seal leak. Recording crankcase pressure would have told me right away. I only have an O2 sensor in the passenger bank so it didn't pick up on the rich condition.
My plan is to wire an external map sensor and have it connected to a vac line coming from the valve cover. I don't know if I've mentioned it here or in another thread but from what I've researched, spikes in crankcase pressure indicate detonation before it becomes audible or before a knock sensor can detect it. I don't have intentions of pushing my tune that far but I was thinking that I could record the mapdot (of the crankcase) and basically create my own "knock sensor". I could set MS to pull timing once it detects a threshold mapdot that I have determined from data logging. It would be a nice safety factor and there is no possibility of false readings from things like solid lifters etc unless something fails like a gasket.... It will also keep me up to date on ring conditions.
