Thread: Best 360 stroker kit?

  1. #1

    Default Best 360 stroker kit?

Im on the fence about having a engine made for me. When it comes to the 360 stroker kits which stroker engine performs the best? It will get some boost, I have heard the 410 (i believe it was) was the best, some say the 408. I also know there is a 426 but then I would need a "R" block to safely have it done...Whats your guys' opinions or advice on this?

    I believe a 402 is 4.00 stroke 4.00 bore, a 408 is .30 over bore and a 410 is 0.40 over bore?

Mods - TB Spacer, Short Throw Dipstick, Performance Auto Zone Intake "0.30 over bore", R/T Cam, Performance Chip, Radiator Delete

    A R block is not needed for a 426 that uses a 4.18" crank.

The place is full of different opinions regarding stroke, bore etc. You would be better off looking at recent threads that are the same topic.

Dave I may die at 38 if that's what it takes but they can have my cars with my guns all at the same time

And to the op ..... For boost I would build a nice 360 and call it a day.

I would bore over, rather then add stroke for boost. Depends on the boost level tho too. Also will need some heads.

Get you block checked, magnum blocks don't like much more than 30 over.

Boring it for no reason is silly unless you are trying to save $$$ by using off shelf Pistons. The couple extra cubes won't do squat. For what the op has currently a stock stroke using stock crank and some beefed up rods/Pistons is all he should need. Doesn't seem to be a race truck build.

He is asking about a stroker kit. IMO, Scat makes an affordable kit. As a matter of fact, I'm installing a Scat kit on my 408 build. Attention OP, be advised a 408 build will need other upgrades. Air & fuel and tune being some of them just to name a few. Good luck and keep us informed.

Im just trying to figure out my next move.... really been thinking about the schumacher conversion kit and getting a 6.4 hemi and a fast xfi 2.0 system to run it. That way ill have plenty of engine support. There are so many performance parts out there for the new gen hemi's.

Power is power, right? I'm sure whatever your power goals are, you can do it with the Magnum. Might have to go forced induction to get there (or Nitrous maybe), but you can get there, without going to all the trouble of a swap.

Regards to tuning, going standalone like Megasquirt or whatever is probably he way to go. A standalone option will have the support and ease of tuning you're looking for. Again, without going to the trouble of a swap.

...not that a Hemi swap wouldn't be cool mind you. Just sayin', I don't think it's necessary.

Im already running a supercharger with 6-7 psi. I figure if I can get her to run 11's I would be happy for this build. Hell i havent even had it out to the track. so far it puts 350hp to the wheels and I just got the M Saine transmission in before the winter. I feel i should have a little more power.
