2016 DRTC Meet Bid
Location: Reno, NV (Central Location for Div. 6 & Div. 7)
When: TBD - June/July
Main attractions and activities; Show-‘N-Shine, Drag Race, National Auto Museum tour, Summit Distribution tour, banquet dinner, possible auto-x if stars align (why there is a two month window provided). Other activities; A&W car show/hangout, go-cart track, local Mopar car club.
Itinerary:
Thursday: Arrival, check-in at hotel, go-cart outing.
Friday: TNT @ Top Gun Raceway. Piggy-Back onto TNT, club dedicated lanes. Depending on day or night race we can do the National Auto Museum tour in the AM or in the evening hit up the A&W car show.
Saturday: Reno Chapter SCCA solo runs at Stead airport ($40 entry paid to SCCA). Banquette dinner, prizes.
Sunday: Summit Racing car show + awards & tour of Summit Distribution center. Battle Born Mopars (local club) conjoined for show.
Choice hotel: GRAND Sierra Resort. Todd got a good rate last year through them and his connection can also get us a good rate on the Auto Museum tour.
Reno, Nevada is the perfect middle grounds for a Division 6 and Division 7 rendezvous. After a national meet falling in 2013, Division 6 and Division 7 put on a decent sized get together in a more southern location at Sacramento, CA for a three day event. With more time to plan, the meet can pull in several more trucks and activities than in 2013. Reno is a small town that has it all, activities, gambling, night life, and lots of local car enthusiasts to boot. The official date is still to be determined, but there are plenty of activities to shuffle around if one falls out of place.
I called and emailed the track, but haven't heard back yet on an official 2016 schedule. They do Friday night TNT's and Friday day TNT's for $5. The track had 3-TNT's last year in the June-July time frame (also have Summit races we could jump on if we have to). The Reno-SCCA chapter also had 3-solo weekends in the same two months. Only one met on the same weekend. If we can get an official date from the Track, I'd like to see if the SCCA can plan one of their events around that time or vice versa. If not, we can shuffle around the other activities planned to accommodate ie. Museum/go-carts.
