Rudy here has EQs which is slightly better than stock , but is only running shorties and only runs a OEM based downpipe due to emissions. So, I'm not sure where there is a magical 50 whp to gain. Rudy has a ton to gain by adding a cam should he ever muster up the courage to do so.
Cam is probably the only way to get it all aligned

With a whole new top end I'd be pissed if I wasn't at low to flat 14s, probably swap in an LS motor

If the upload works... here's the "Cali" cam Sam used to sell at socaldakota.com

I believe Russ installed a 210 or 212 in the red truck. Have the physical card for that.

I have a hughes HER0814AL cam, M1, 1.92 heads, 50mm F&B, 5.2 engine, B&G flash, and my 4x4 with 4.56 and 33" tires was in high 14s. B&G shifted at 6000 or 6200, and the engine HAULED ASS for 12 years, spun healthy and pulled hard all the way to redline. Its bit small for a 5.9, I want to talk to Hughes about it, but I liked the grind, truck was a beast with it. Not as much low end torque going up hills in OD as I'd like, but that sucker liked to rev.

I'm by NO means a cam guy, so I have no idea what you need, only know that you need it

I've read on the forums that this cam here is pretty good: http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...?csid=664&sb=0 I realize springs and retainers will have to be upgraded.

    Thoughts?

Personally I would get something just a tad more aggressive. You've got heads, M1, headers, your setup is built to move air, so I would use a cam that's good all the way to redline.

Aside from springs and retainers to handle the increased lift and RPM, I would also go back to 1.6 RRs, since you are going to cam it anyway. The stock cam is REALLY holding you back.

Maybe it was mentioned, but what is your fuel sync set at? How is your AFR at WOT? what rpm do you shift at in WOT? Did you put the goodies on the motor yourself or a shop? After the Gibson headers, what is the exhaust like? Y-pipe diameter?

Can't go too aggressive because California.

Fuel sync is at a dead zero.
AFR is around 12.6 at WOT.
Ryan set the WOT shifts at around 5500.
    Did everything myself.
Y pipe diameter is stock 2" into 2.5" then 3". That will be changed later on.

I can make any cam within reason misfire free but if you need to mask the lope I would suggest a 210/220 on a 114.
    I just dyno'd this cam with a M1 2bbl , old KRC 1.92 RTs, and midlengths.....made 332 whp with the cutout open.

Isn't the new SMOG for 2000+ trucks just a computer plug-in, no dyno? Assuming the flash cleans up any codes, I think it would pass? I think the round air cleaner would fail visual first

I'm not talking 3000+ rpm cam, but a bit more oomph than the one you linked. Regarding fuel sync, I believe i set mine to +4 back in the day, can you set yourself or dealer trip?

Those are good numbers Ryan, what was the actual cam? lift numbers?

Who makes that cam in those specs? Or will that need to be custom ground?

I'm no cam guy either, but I know that I still have one of the ''sausage'' cam in my basement that Sam used to sell. If I'm not mistaken they were legal in Cali. Don't know if it could be good.

Guys, cali changed smog laws this year. 2000+ trucks do not get the dyno, just the computer. Assuming the flash takes care of the codes, there shouldn't be any problems with the cam. Now if you go to a 2000-6500 rpm cam that can't idle, then you might have a problem.. but if it idles and has no codes, he should be good.

The last few cars I smogged, no dyno

Smogged my truck in February. Reinstalled the kegger, stock air cleaner, and 3 cat y-pipe. Guy asked me about the swap, told him I did it myself. Plugged in and passed.

That 210/220 108 cam will run harder than that Sausage cam ever will. If smog ain't an issue, use it to your advantage.
