Thread: Moser Engineering is full of shit

  1. #1

Thumbs down Moser Engineering is full of shit

Website states they will plug weld and redrill hubs, rotors, axles from 6-lug to 5-lug.

Based on this and a phone call, I bought and shipped 4 rotors and 2 new hubs to them with instructions to change the pattern from 6x4.5 to 5x115.

Got a voice mail Friday evening stating the stud holes in the rotors are too big to change pattern without plug welding rotor, which they will not do because they cannot true a rotor that's been plug welded, DESPITE OFFERING THIS SERVICE ON THEIR SITE.

So I'm out $145 shipping, and stuck with a set of wheels I can't use, ALL BECAUSE THEY ADVERTISE ON THEIR WEBSITE A SERVICE THAT THEY DO NOT PROVIDE.

    FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK MOSER ENGINEERING.

All I can say is wow. You would think they could drill a new hole the right size for the 5x115 pattern, and start from scratch. They couldn't redrill your axles/hubs? Rotors don't have to be perfectly drilled as long as the are true to the center hub, with at least 2 holes dead on or close...if that makes sense. ..
Also what were the wheels off of with that bolt pattern?

That's the Mopar LX pattern... Charger, Challenger, 300, etc.

Listen, it's good that you report Moser as one to avoid.....but don't let that consume your time or energy. There has got to be someone else out there that can do it.
I would think that you could use a later model 5 lug front hub assembly from RockAuto and swap those out.....leaving only the rear axles to deal with.
Your problem isn't the problem. Your reaction is the problem.

Funny. They did mine for $90. Beautiful work, no problem at all.

I just had a bad experience with them as well, i e-mailed them back and fourth for a couple days sent them hubs, then get a phone call a few days later, come to find out it seems the no longer do this type of work do to cost and time. and safety concerns. i don't think the person i spoke to got the memo. luckily it only cost me about 20 bucks to ship them there. and they shipped them back very quickly. i was not a happy camper. i completely understand why they dont want to do it any more, just sucks i took the time to mail them off and everything...but it sounds like 1320 wheels does it..so be sure and check them out!

Crown Vic mod is cheaper, and easier if you need replacement parts. Go that route

But do call, and be sure to tell them you are shipping the hubs to them without the bearings, they did a top notch job on my hubs.

For the rotors, Just drill them. I wouldn't want cast iron brake rotors that have been welded on.

Maybe offer more money to get them to do it. Lol
I'm sending them the hubs with no bearings or studs.

i would just double check before you ship them off...they made it perfectly clear to me that they didnt want to do that type of work any more, after i complained to a manager about being told they did, and i shipped them to them, they did offer to do it if i sent them back. but at that time i had already found other means to get it done.

You really need to post 3 replies to a 2 year old thread? Lol.

I'm sure he just called around to local speed or machine shops until he found someone who would do it.
