I’ve made an executive decision and will terminate the exhaust at the end of the cab. I’m going to use band clamps so I can move things around later if necessary, or to experiment. Depending upon where my header primaries and collector length time out, will determine where I place the cut-out, and therefore the position of the resonator.

Thanks! The jack stands are used to support and level camping trailers. They are a little wobbly, just like other stands. But the adjustable height screw makes adjusting the height in increments easy, rather than trying to shim regular jack stands. It seemed cheaper to buy than make.

That looks good, did I miss the picture how you’re going from the header to the frame ?

I'm going to try and run it where the frame rises up, just behind the lower control arm, or possibly over the top of the frame like a side well header. I've got to get the engine in so I can time out the primary and collector length. It's probably not going to be easy.

No, I'm not copying that. I was just trying to show that maybe I can run two primary tubes above the frame, and two primary tubes under the frame, in order to make it fit better. Maybe.

A little progress today making mounting brackets for the exhaust. They attach to the band clamps.

    Rear Mount

    Front Mount

Next I will make the outriggers to support it from the frame.

Thanks Ernie! Truth be told, I've got several pages of various sketches trying to figure out how to do it. Simple gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. lol

The back outrigger is done. I could flip it 180-degrees to hide it up more, but once the vehicle is sitting on the ground, it may not be as noticeable.

Made the front mount while trying to use existing holes in the frame. However, it is not rigid against the frame, and needs to be redesigned, with a fastening bolt on the left side of the bracket.

Nevertheless, mounting off the band clamp in this manner is not going to be rigid enough. Even with everything tight, the clamp still flexes at the point shown.

    Time for plan “B”

Don’t know if I can salvage some of the hours spent so far on this, but I’ll give it some thought.

Might have to add a hanger to sustain some weight

Yeah, or maybe turn one clamp 180-degrees so the two clamps can't flex in the same direction. That would mean a longer out rigger though. There is also some flex coming from the silicone isolator. It was probably designed to be used in shear and not tension.

Or maybe weld side tabs on the muffler itself and attach it like I did with the bullet mufflers. That was quite stout without being rigid, with the silicone isolator mounted in shear.

I'm thinking of scrapping the band clamp idea. It's become a can of worms. lol

Maybe I can do something with these pieces?

I also like the look of an exhaust that is as fully welded as possible without band clamps at every connection. But it is easier to change things around if it is not fully welded.

Trial and error is not without a price.

Maybe something like these? I used them on my Mustang after the IRS Swap so I could use the factory hanger locations.

I don’t think I have enough head room to do that. I’ve given some thought to how the Vipers hang their exhaust using a different version of a rubber isolator.

The only problem with that is finding the rubber grommets. The few I've found are around $45+ each.
