Short version: I am curious to see what offers I would get if I were to sell these tubular upper and lower control arms and QA1 coil overs. I disassembled this stuff and got it all cleaned up. I have added grease fittings to the upper control arm bushings, but haven't done the lowers yet (not sure how much of a PITA it will be to get the lower bushings out). One upper arm weighs 7lbs and one lower arm weighs 10lbs. I will weigh a coil over tomorrow after I get them cleaned up as well.
Long version: As most of you know, I ended up with the tubular control arms that were on Scott Q-Dbag's truck way back in the day. His truck was a 2000, so it had the curved upper pivot shaft on the passenger side. Since mine is a 1999, I need that pivot shaft to be straight. I obtained a straight pivot shaft, and completely disassembled both upper arms. I only needed to swap the passenger side, but I wanted a fresh coat of paint on both so they would match. I took the time to machine the upper bushings and drill/tap the arms to allow for grease fittings. I just put the upper arms back together tonight, but I'm still debating whether I want to use them or not. I contacted Dan Arcand probably 7-8 months ago about these arms, and he said he wouldn't recommend them for street use. They "appear" just fine to me, and they even have mounts for the factory sway bar. If they weren't meant for any street use, why would they have those mounts in the first place?
Here are some details from back in the GSM days:
70lb lighter than stock
2" lower than stock
Heavy duty ball joints
Black poly urethane bushings
All chromoly construction
Bump stop and sway bar mount for direct stock replacement
Extremely smooth a-arm movement vs. stock binding rubber
2" more shock travel than stock
Adjustable ride and spring with QA-1 coil overs
Initial pricing will be $1,699.00 using the modified factory spindle
That was all taken from notes from back in the day. I am just curious what interest there is for these, especially from the few hardcore drag racers here. The "advertised" weight reduction of 70lb is not confirmed by me yet.
Weights
Uppers: 7lb ea
Lowers: 10lb ea
Coilovers: 9lb ea
That means these parts weigh 26lbs per side, 52lbs total
Feel free to PM me if you would rather not make your offer public.
Pictures...the first couple are from the early 2000s when these were first made and test-fitted. The handful after those are as-is off Scott's truck after it had sat for ~12-13 years outside. They have bascially zero miles on them, as you can tell from the rotors. The pictures in post #2 are since they've been in my possession.
