I guess I didn't think it all through. I've been to sema the past 4 years, so it's novelty for myself has worn off. To get into sema you also have to be sponsored by a company in the automotive industry, tickets cannot be bought unless you give proof you are in the industry. This alone would make it hard for everyone to get tickets. Buuuuuttt, the tickets are only to go INSIDE the convention center. You do not require one to walk around the outside of the convention center where there are still a BOAT LOAD of vehicles and events going on. Friday roll out is sweet though and lots of sema cars and trucks on the strip.

And what you hear about walking around for 4 days straight and still missing everything is true. My first year I couldn't beleive the size, and I was their with the car from our shop - so make it 12 hrs each day and still missed stuff.

Just useless info I thought I would share in case anybody has thought about going. I'll be there again this year.

Two years ago, 15 trucks showed up 2-hours south of "the middle of nowhere" with only a couple months to plan and give people time to prepare.
I don't see how extra time and planning wouldn't help attract a few more trucks.

Your question is exactly why some of us would like at least 2 locations for Nat meets. Moving the location around so it is convenient to the east coast area. And, the same for the west coast area.

And just to set the record straight .... reno hosts one of the, if not the largest car shows in the country in Hot August Nights. One of the bigger motorcycle show in Street Vibrations. And for gamblers is an international stop off. I wouldnt call it the middle of nowhere especially being almost dead in the middle of the map north to south.

There was no question on the last poll about who would NOT come or the percentages would have been the same as this one.

I decided to try to do this to see if the west coast guys wanted to get together. If you dont like the idea take some initiative and do better. The main big mouth has no intention of helping the club or doing anything other than to which is too bad. And its perfectly OK is the other bummer - but thats ok we may just do this event anyway and I will foot the bill if its something people want to do.

I was also going to see about getting a travel agency involved for bulk airfare discounts to make it more affordable for east coast guys to come hang out, thinking outside the DRTC box --- There is other ways to garner attentance than just those who will drive ..... but to each their own.

Just call it the "West Coast DRTC Meet and let the East Coast guys come up with their own meet. It's not like they would be competing for the same people to attend anyways.

I love the idea of Reno for the next event.I guess I am partial since I live near Sacramento but nonetheless I will be a paid member by next year.

The United States is 3,119,885 square miles. It is not possible to pick a location that is going to be within a suitable driving distance for even a quarter of the members of this site especially when someone are outside the country! We shouldn't be nitpicking; I'm 2800 miles from Reno and I admit that this would be a challenge for me but I am glad we have someone who is being proactive and taking the initiative to setup a national meet nearly a year in advance. The thought of driving through that completely unfamiliar part of the country seems appealing to me.

If you do and the event is anywhere near Vineland NJ I'm gonna have a big problem on my hands because I'll want to do both. South Jersey is extremely close to my old home town and I haven't been back in 2 years. Set yours up about a week after the Reno event and I'll basically take the whole month off from work and live on the road

Sure wish we could do a meet in FL. We got it as close as we could to Fl, but yet only 1 attendee came from there.
If folks are serious about attending a national meet, there will almost always be some travel involved.
    It is what it is.

Be it in Reno, or Juno...

    That's a great idea Pat.
I wish it were that simple that we could do 2 locations each year.

It was a MAJOR accomplishment that we did 3 last year. If only people realized the logistics issues involved. And how close it came to not happening.
I wish I could promise the club that we could do 2 meets, but I can't. Those not on the board don't realize that the DRTC operates on a shoestring budget.

Back in the club's heyday, we had the money, the members, and involvement.
It really boils down to how many people can get involved with the boots-on-the-ground planning. I can't expect the entire board to do what happened in 2013. And our budget can't support it.

    I applaud Todd's efforts...He's taken the interest.
In the end, it'll probably come down to single meet location. Unless the board steps up to make it a dual meet, and the members will pay the meet fees to make it happen.

    Yeah, we know.

Life would be so much easier if every single member of the club lived in Division 1.

    But they don't.

Ok so I made a little more progress this week on this. I will also update the first post.

I talked with a mopar group called Battle Born Mopars and they might be game for having a tandem show n shine so basically get to see a lot of classic mopars.

Automuseum came back with very reasonable pricing to do the tour/buffet/prize giveaway venue.

Lady at auto museum has a contact at summit she is going to get to contact me regarding a visit to the distribution facility (while there check out retail store). Maybe do Show N Shine there as well.

The race track GM emailed me back and is supposed to call. They have a race June 6/7 so hopefully we can piggy back that event and get good racing rates. Also friday that week I think is $5.00 fridays so test and tune might be possible if you want to make the drive twice.

I found a local bbq place who will cater BBQ sandwiches/beans/side of choice for a very reasonable per person price for dinner at the hotel after the show n shine.

Got a trophy place giving me quotes on doing all the trophies.

I will gather up rest of hard costs and everything will be down to the penny on cost and what the meet fees will be.
