Default The streetrod Mfg. Co. Rear Disk Conversion

Just set up a group buy on their rear disk conversions for 1997-2004 dakota & Durango.
Kit clears a 15" wheel and will work on 8.25 or 9.25 rears.
Full kit with calipers (with E brake!, cable extensions included), pads, rotors, mounting brackets, and 8" stainless steel brake lines is $660

The deal is if we order only 3 sets we get 20% off

So full rear disk swap for $528 (before tax & shipping)
$348 if you decide to use none E brake calipers.

$+80 for dimpled and slotted rotors.

Here is their website. I've been doing research on these for days now and even guys running 38" swamp tires are happy with the power of the single caliber brake set up. From what I hear they use stock front dakota rotors and calipers from 1979-1985 Cadillac eldorado so rebuild parts are easily available for years to come.

Do you know anyone who has this conversion? And when do we need to know by?

Hmm, maybe. Their site says the kit uses a 11.25" rotor. I've been thinking of doing the 03 04 swap which would be roughly the same cost and uses a larger rotor and 2 piston caliper. I wonder why their kit uses a smaller rotor and caliper.

Not sure either but 15" rims probably would not fit with the 12" rotors.

Yeah the small rotor is to fit the 15" wheels. Summits kit fits 15" but is $800 and also single piston caliper. The other kits I've heard of were $1,000 plus. Google this kit there is plenty of people using it with no issues and I believe there is a couple on this site using it also. Was also uses on a TV show once there video of install is on YouTube. Plan on having every body place the order next week within 3 days of each other.

Is the 03 rear a two or one piston caliper? I know the front is two...

Pretty sure the rear caliper on the '03 is only single piston.

Not good for the 1/4 mile guys according to what I've read, the disks stop better, but don't foot brake as well as drums.

'03s may already have rear disc, BUT the calipers are so damn ridiculously bulky you won't fit any 15's on there, and depending on the brand you won't be able to fit 16's either...but it depends on the brand.

    What?

I'm talking about holding the truck at the line while on the converter at 3-4K, not doing a burnout.

Umm just so happens I got caliper plates, calipers , e brake cables, and brake lines in the junkyard today for $38 of a 2003....time to take the calipers in to trade for remains and get dripped/slotted rotors and I'm good to go! Haven't seen an 03/04 Dakota in the yard for the past 3 years I lucked out. So who ever wants this setup I'm willing to be the middleman and communicate with TSM for you guys since I set up the deal u need 3 people. Let me know.

Unless you plan to modify the ends of your rear axle those parts are not gonna fit as I understand it - major pain the the butt or else everyone would be doing it....easier to swap in the complete 9 1/4 out of a 03/04. That was/is still my plan.

You are correct, they are not a direct bolt on.

Because I need a suitable vin to order some parts. You might need it too if you have to call upon Dodge for parts All that is required is the last eight digits of the vin to look up parts.

Ive been running the tsm kit for almost a year now with no issues.

I went with the swap when i had my rear end rebuilt. I mainly chose this kit because it was cost effective and still will fit 15" for slicks. From what i remember, the rotors for the kit are dak rotor with minor machining to get them to fit.

    Great product for the price!!
