    Default Roll Cage Specs/Measurements/Kits?

I know a few of your have roll cages installed, what's the best way to do it? Is there a kit available anywhere? Would the required specs vary from us to Canada? And what's the 1/4 times when you start needing a helmet/cage/ fire suit

I hope that is better than what I got from them.

I was told by my chassis guy they made good stuff BUT when the Back half kit (pre welded) they sold me showed up to his shop it was so out of alignment he couldn't get it back in for shit. Needless to say he doesn't buy from them any more.

That said: They should be OK for the rollcage.

Alternate could be Jeg's. I originally used their S-10 in my regular cab Dakota and it fit fine.

You don't need a cage to run 11s, don't even need a roll bar till you run under 11.49.

Everyone should wear a helmet, even if you're running 17s, but rules are under 14s helmet needed.

BTW...NHRA rule book, it's all there and it's not in Cursive so you're good to go.

This is where I got mine. If you plan on running 11.49 or faster get a 5-6 point. Or 8 and be good for a while.

Reviving this one. Do the two of you have any pics of your kits installed? Any bad points about them as far as fit?

Keep in mind the bars sit about 12" inches away from the frame so you need to build outriggers to connect it to the frame

thanks for the pics....Chromoly? so those upper corners on the main bar where the only parts that didn't fit well? Do you think your A-pillar bars would've fit with a stock dash?

From main hoop back is mild steel, everything else is chromoly.

I'd say the main hoop was easily 2" too wide, that why I had to cut the roof and pull the stock door panels.
I'll get some measurements, my tape measure is on the job.

Be nice to know if the S&W one is the same as the Rhodes or if it fits better. Is Kota390 still around here?

I strongly suggest you have a custom cage done, while you can make a pre order kit fit in my opinion they will still fit like shit. Custom made can be perfectly fitted and tucked up tight and look better. Also even though it will cost more going chromoly is 100% worth it in my opinion.

with the difference in dollar and shipping/duty I am almost certain I am gonna build my own out of chromoly. I am looking for pics with and without interiors for ideas. Also pros/cons of running the A-pillar bars infront or through the dash.

My main hoop and rear bars are 1-3/4" mild steel, everything in front of the main hoop is 1-5/8" chromo. I had the chromo halo and A pillar bars bent locally to my dimensions, I notched and had them tigged in.

I had soooo much trouble with the pre-bent main hoop from Rhodes, if you look at my pictures I added a bend to push it back against the rear of the cab, the cab mounts get in the way so your out riggers end up being to far forward, hence the bend.
Whwn I added the halo and A bars I re-did the front out riggers from round to 2" x 6" channel welded to the frame...But to make it all work in a roll over, you need to box the frame where every down bar and out rigger is welded to it. Mine isn't....Yet.
And...If you want to get really OCD....It's a bad idea to make vertical weld on the side of a frame, it should be a diamond shape.

is there any difference to having a halo with short A-pillars or the long ones that tie directly to the main hoop with a front cross bar? are both ways 8.50 certified? maybe easier to weld one or the other?

I like the second option, mine isn't though...I think it would be easier too.
Just plan your attack...you need to tack everything in place and drop it through the floor of the truck so you can weld it up.
