Exclamation Finally! Manual Tranny swap in 01+, NO CEL!

Make this thread a sticky, ASAP! Attached is the info for my 01+ Dakota r/t and how I removed the remaining two CEL (Gov. pressure sensor, an trans temp sensor). They are integrated in the same sensor, buy a new one from any dodge dealer and tie the wires in and match the colors to correct pins as I show below. (Note, they're are two violet/white wires in the tranny harness, you will need to hook up a test light to either one to find the power wire when the key is on and that is the 5v supply to this sensor). Ryan Hogan has done all of my tunes and helped in a big way to get me to this point! Enjoy!

Good news. Thanks for posting this. I'll try it with an earlier sensor setup on my 99.

If I have a whole valve body harness and used sensor, it seems that would also work as a temporary solution, right? I only need to pass emissions once, then it will be exempt.

    No problem sir!

I'd imagine that would work, I did the same thing your're thinking, pulled the sensor from my valvebody right out of my original 46re and simply wired in the sensor as shown in the pics and that seems to be working.

Hey guys, so has anyone had a loss of communication with a scan tool when this code and condition is present?? I get good communication with key on engine off, but once the engine fires up, no communication

Also, I get a overdrive clutch code, p1726 or something after this procedure. It cured the gov pressure code but created this.

I'm sure Ryan can easily help you with the clutch code, that was one of the 4 or 5 I had when him and I started the whole process and he was able to tune that out.

As far as loss of communication, these SCT handhelds and our trucks are VERY fussy and MUST have 12v at the battery, I'd start by grabbing a multimeter and see where your at.

Hey Tobbe! how's sweden! I got another box from someone with parts inside for you!

If you simply remove the transmission, yes, the PCM goes into limp mode and limits your RPM. With the SCT tuning that Ryan can do, he tricks the auto PCM into thinking it was originally a manual transmission computer, and no performance is limited.

if you're keeping the 46RE, then no need to program out anything. in fact, I'm not sure you can program out the auto and have that 46re still work.

are you making the electronic transmission operate hydraulically like the older 46RH? or 518OD?

Ultimately I would reach out to Ryan and ask him about what you're building and the best way to go with the computer.
