Default Aftermarket Blocks and Head choices

I will leave the stock blocks out of the equation, even the weird ones like the 340TA block.

These all are or were available from Mopar. Some are LA, some are Mag, some are Both.

X Block ( LA Iron Similar to 340TA block, but thicker webbing and decks)
    R1 ( Evolution of the X Block )
R3* in all of its variations ( Evolutions of the R1 block, both LA and Magnum provisions )
    A4* ( Alum sprint car block )
    R5 ( Iron NASCAR Block )
    R6* ( Iron NASCAR Block )

Then there are the XR Blocks*, which I believe are both aluminum and Iron, and are dual Magnum/LA setup. These were brought to market by Ritter of Ritter and Weber racing. They were SS/AA record holders in the mid 90's with their 68 Hemi Cuda.

The ones with * by them are still available new AFAIK.

Heads... Oh boy. This could take me awhile

Start with Mopar. Again, I will stay away from the stock ones.

RT ( Cast Iron based on the W2 ports and castings )
    Magnum Small port Alum
    Magnum Large port Alum
W1 ( Iron sucessor to the 340TA or U head castings, VERY rare )
W2* ( Iron upgrade to the W1's. There are many varieties of this head )
W5 ( First factory Aluminum aftermarket head )
W7 ( Upgrade of the W5 for the first NASCAR effort )
W8 ( Upgrade of the W5 for the ProStock Truck effort )
W9* ( Upgrade of the W5 for all class racing, and eventually used in the SprintCar program )
    P5, 6, 7, 8* were all Nascar heads.

    Aftermarket

Diamond ( first aftermarket Alum head for the LA motors. Early 70's exceptionally rare )
Batten Alum W2's ( again, very very rare head )
Brodix B1-BA* ( First alum brodix SB head )
Brodix B1-BA-MC* ( Same as above, but with moved centerline for larger intake ports )
Indy 360-1* ( Alum large port head- 245cc)
Indy 360-2* ( Alum medium port head- 210 or 230cc)
Edelbrock Performer RPM* ( Alum medium port heads )
Dr J Airwolf 220* ( Alum big port heads- 330+ cfm possible )
    Magnum EQ's* ( Iron medium port )
RHS Magnum* ( Iron medium port )

Again, the ones with the * should still be available.

There might be some that I missed, most of this was from memory So I am sure that I mixed something up, but this should give you a idea of the potential combinations out there for motors. This was minus ALL of the stock pieces that were available in production vehicles, so when you add those parts to the mix, you truly get a HUGE amount of combinations that are possible. And yes, almost ANY of the heads will work with ANY of the blocks. It might take some ingenuity, and pushrod angles might not be the best, but they will physically bolt in place, and the deck heights were all the same, so manifolds are available for each combo.

    Hope this helps
