From a guy that doesn't know much about boost...

At 6 psi, what is the highest compression ratio you'd want to run
    What cam would you recommend

Iron head or aluminum, what octane, meth injection or hot air?

As far as cam- I'm no cam guru. I would refer you bullet, mike jones, or comp cams if you don't want to pay a premium.

Depending on the cam profile and how much cylinder pressure it builds down low I wouldn't want much more than 9.5:1. If the cam is big, you can get away with more mechanical compression. Spraying meth would be a lot cheaper than changing pistons for lower compression though.

I'm guessing you're ready to step up from your NA 408? What cam is in it now, do you know what cranking compression it has?

Just flirting with the idea for now

    Cam is 236 / 242 @ .050, .580 .577 Gross Valve Lift, 112 LSA
Cranking compression is 175 psi at 9.8:1
    Fully forged w/ h-beams btw

Bore 4.03 inches, stroke 4.0 inches, rod c-c length 6.123 inches, with a static compression ratio of 9.8 :1. Your camshaft specifications call for an inlet valve closing of 48 degrees ABDC (after bottom dead center).

Your chamber volume is 95.01 cc's. With this camshaft your dynamic, or effective stroke is 3.52 inches. Your dynamic compression ratio is 8.74 :1 corrected for cam timing, altitude, and rod length. Your dynamic cranking pressure, corrected for cam timing, rod length and altitude is 178.21 PSI. Your dynamic boost compression ratio, reflecting static c.r., cam timing, altitude, and 6 PSI is 12.31 :1.

I had to guess on your intake centerline for the intake closing event to get the 175psi cranking you see.

You are into race gas territory with that DCR and 6psi. With iron heads, I would be spraying a lot of meth down it's throat if you want to run 92. A cam swap might be able to bleed a bit more off.

With that much cranking compression, I think you'll be swapping pistons. If you want me to run the numbers, I need the intake closing after bottom dead center and the bore/stroke/rod length.

Thanks for the update on availability. My first race is in March so I may hook up what I have now and then swap once these are ready.

Couldn't you run a thicker head gasket to decrease compression? I know it's a common trick in the tuner scene. Do they make cometics for these motors?

Yes you can, and yes they do.... But that kills the quench distance which is counter-productive.

Hey five9dak, are Richards 6an fuel rails and a M1 2bbl more than enough for the original Kb set up or would you suggest the 8an and a 4bbl.
Also do you make pulleys for the mx422 I have the 6lb was hoping somebody makes aftermarket 9lb but can't find them anywere

Are things ok? Seems unusual Five9Dak wouldn't answer by now.

Prototype kit is running, I'm shaking the bugs out of it now. I have a few small improvements I want to make then I'll go into beta testing.

6AN and 2bbl are fine, the KB inlet plumbing will be a restriction before the 2bbl or the fuel rails.

KB should still be able to sell you pulleys. If not, I will look into having some made.

Sorry for the late response, these posts just slipped by.

I can supply -6, -8 or -10 rails on production kits. The prototype I'm running right now has -6. Should be more than enough to blow up a stock motor.
